Somerset's 20-year-old offie Shoaib Bashir, who made his first-class debut in the summer, gets a call-up for the India Tests to complete a spin attack also featuring Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed and Tom Hartley. Jimmy continues to lead the seam arsenal of Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson; Stokes is included as captain and batsman but ruled out as a bowling option.

Full squad: Rehan Ahmed, James Anderson, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Ben Stokes (captain), Mark Wood

First time India have ever lost on home soil after getting a first-innings lead of 100+ runs. Magic.

Indians have lost a couple more players for the next game. Jadeja and kl Rahul both out injured. Expect left arm unorthodox bowler Kuldeep Yadav or Washington Sundar to come in along with sarfaraz khan coming in for Rahul.

Seam is potentially going to be more potent here, although it is expected to turn more, but after the poor showing from siraj in the first test it wouldn't surprise me if they put both Sundar and Kuldeep in, Sundar offers batting stability.

For England Anderson is expected to come in, whilst leach is expecting to be fit. Mark wood is expected to sit out, although England are thinking of playing two seamers.

If Atkinson debuts then personally I think the batting line up is short, with leach Anderson and Atkinson both being specialists tailenders, one will have to bat out of position, unless they pick Robinson who won't offer much difference for pace but wields the bat a bit more. Rehan Ahmed will likely miss out.

India line up

Jaiswal
Rohit
Gill
Iyer
Khan
Bahrat
Patel
Sundar
Ashwin
Yadav
Bumrah

England

Crawley
Duckett
Pope
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Flakes
Hartley
Atkinson
Leach
Anderson
