Macclesfield boss Alex Bruce has left the non-league club to take up a position at a Football League side.

The 39-year-old former Hull City defender took over at the Northern Premier League side in October last year for his first role in management.

He had previously been on the coaching staff at West Bromwich Albion during his father Steve's spell in charge at The Hawthorns.

Bruce leaves with the Silkmen in fifth place in the seventh tier.
