Millwall have signed Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet from Hibernian for what the Edinburgh club have described as a "significant seven-figure fee".

The 26-year-old spent three years at Hibs and scored 12 goals in 19 Scottish Premiership appearances last season.

"We're disappointed to lose Nizzy," said manager Lee Johnson.

"He did so well for us on his return [from injury] but we understand that he wanted to go on a new adventure down south."

Johnson added: "We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best in England."

Millwall say Nisbet has signed a "long-term contract".

Lions boss Gary Rowett told the Championship club's website: "It's a fabulous addition for us. Kevin is a goalscorer but also has so many other attributes to contribute to the squad.

"When I've spoken to him you can tell he's raring to go and excited to play in front of our fans.

"He thrives off that energy from the supporters and I'm sure they will get that exact same buzz from him as well."

Nisbet missed the first half of the 2022-23 campaign while recovering from a serious knee injury.

He scored in his first game back, against Rangers in December, and almost joined Millwall the following month but the deal was abandoned.

This time, Hibs say they have received a "significant seven-figure fee" and that the deal includes "sizeable add-ons and a sell-on fee".

Hibs chief executive Ben Kensell said: "After deciding to stay in January, Kevin informed us that he wanted to leave the football club this summer, which we understood.

"Following those discussions, we had to ensure we got the best possible deal for him."

Nisbet, who has been capped 10 times, has been included in the Scotland squad for June's European Championship qualifiers against Norway and Georgia.

Millwall's head of youth recruitment Barry Dunn has been charged by the Football Association with an "aggravated breach" of rules in relation to his social media conduct.

The misconduct charge includes interacting with a post that is "insulting and/or indecent and/or improper", and included a reference to religion or belief.

In May the FA said it was investigating tweets of an alleged racist and Islamophobic nature from an account with Dunn's name on it.

He has until Wednesday, 21 June to respond.

A statement from Millwall last month said they were "co-operating fully with the governing body".

A spokesperson for the Championship club added: "The club is aware of an active FA investigation into the social media activity of a staff member.

"The club cannot comment further while the investigation is ongoing but wishes to reiterate its zero-tolerance policy against discrimination of any kind."

In March, Millwall signed the Muslim Athlete Charter, pledging to "actively support players" of the Islamic faith.

Millwall have signed former Fulham left-back Joe Bryan on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old has agreed a "long-term deal" at The Den and returns to England having spent last season on loan at French side Nice.

Bryan played 102 games in the Premier League and Championship for Fulham after a £6m transfer from Bristol City in the summer of 2018.

He greatest moment for Fulham came when he scored both goals in their 2-1 play-off final win over Brentford in 2020.

He first made his name at Bristol City where he made almost 250 appearances and also had time on loan at Plymouth Argyle.

"Joe has invaluable experience at the top end of The Championship - having won promotion twice with Fulham before - and in the Premier League, so we are very pleased that he has decided to join us," said Millwall's director of football operations and recruitment Alex Aldridge.

"It was evident in our conversations with Gary [Rowett, Millwall manager] over the summer that Joe is relishing a new challenge after his time with Fulham and a different experience abroad in the French league last year.

"His quality and versatility to play both as a full-back and wing-back will really strengthen the squad, and we look forward to working with him."

Millwall's owner and chairman John Berylson has died at the age of 70 following a "tragic accident" on Tuesday, the club have said.

The American businessman first became involved with the Championship club in 2006.

"He was a truly great man, incredibly devoted to his family," Millwall said in a statement.

Berylson is survived by wife Amy and his three children Jennifer, James, and Elizabeth.

The club added: "He was a person of such remarkable generosity, warmth, and kindness.

"He lived a storied life, one full of colour and joy, and was infinitely thoughtful of others with an endless desire to share his immense knowledge and experiences to help people."

Millwall have not released any further details around Berylson's death.

The club have said fans can pay their respects in a book of condolence which will be shared with his family.

Supporters can write in the book at the club's The Den stadium on Wednesday from 11:00 BST, or online.

"He has presided over some of the greatest moments in Millwall's history, and his influence in providing the platform for those was immeasurable," the club said.

"John continued to speak eagerly about the new season and his vision for the future, and any success moving forward will be in his memory and honour. It will be his legacy."

Millwall finished eighth in the Championship last season, just missing out on a play-off place on the final day.

Berylson became a significant shareholder of the club in 2007 after he led a consortium who invested in the then League One side.

He replaced Stewart Till as chairman in the same year and went on to oversee two promotions into the Championship.

The last promotion came in 2017 and the club have maintained their position in the second tier ever since.

'A chairman and friend'
Tributes have poured in for the owner with former Millwall right-back Alan Dunne saying: "My deepest condolences to not only my chairman for many years but also friend.

"John was a gentleman who put Millwall back on the map. What he has done for the club will always be remembered and can only thank him for everything he done for me and MILLWALL."

Aberdeen's chief executive Alan Burrows said: "Such awful, awful news. The thoughts of everyone at Aberdeen FC are with John's family, friends and everyone at Millwall FC. RIP."

The English Football League wrote: "The EFL is shocked and saddened by the news and sends its deepest condolences to John's family and everyone connected with Millwall."

Multiple clubs have sent their condolences, including rivals West Ham, who wrote: "Everyone at West Ham United sends their deepest condolences to John's family, friends and all at Millwall FC during this tragic time."

Championship club Millwall have signed Wes Harding following the defender's departure from Rotherham United.

The 26-year-old Jamaica international made 140 appearances over the course of a three-year spell with the Millers but was released at the end of last season.

He becomes Millwall's third signing of the summer transfer window.

"Wes improves our defensive options in a number of positions," Lions director of football operations and recruitment Alex Aldridge told the club website.

"We know we are adding an excellent character and leadership qualities to our group. He joins us with a real desire to kick on again and establish himself in our team."

Millwall have signed goalkeeper Matija Sarkic from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.

The Lions say the 26-year-old Montenegro international, who only made three appearances for Wolves, has agreed a "long-term" deal at The Den.

During his three-year spell at Molineux Sarkic spent time on loan with Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Stoke City.

He could make his Millwall debut in their Championship opener at Middlesbrough on Saturday (15:00 BST).

George Long had supplanted Bartosz Bialkowski as manager Gary Rowett's number one last season, with the former Sheffield United and Hull City man making 36 league appearances.

Matija is a player who is well known to our goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall from the successful time they had working together at Birmingham," director of football operations and recruitment Alex Aldridge told the club website.

"Now we are excited to see the best of him in a Millwall shirt."

Championship club Millwall have signed Arsenal right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old, who is yet to make his senior debut for the Premier League side, had loan spells with Rotherham United and Coventry City last season.

He becomes the Lions' sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

"He has exciting attributes that we feel can really strengthen [the] squad," director of football operations Alex Aldridge told the club website.

England Under-20 international Norton-Cuffy featured 21 times for Rotherham last season before making 24 appearances for Coventry as he helped the Sky Blues reach the Championship play-off final.

He has played four times for Arsenal U21s in the EFL Trophy and has also spent time on loan at Lincoln City.

Millwall have taken their summer signings tally to eight with loan deals for Allan Campbell and Ryan Longman.

Scotland midfielder Campbell, 25, was part of Luton's promotion-winning squad last season.

Versatile 22-year-old forward Longman has joined the Lions on loan from Hull, with both players on season-long deals.

Campbell started at Motherwell but joined Luton in 2021, making 78 appearances in two years for the Hatters.

Surrey-born Longman is a former Brighton youth player who moved to Wimbledon on loan and then Hull, where he made 37 appearances last season.

Both are available for the South London side's Championship trip to Birmingham on Saturday, as they look for a third win of the campaign.

Millwall director of football operations and recruitment Alex Aldridge said: "Ryan is a player we know really well having tried to sign him previously, so we are very pleased to add him to our squad.

"He gives us another option in forward, wide and wing-back areas - on both sides of the pitch - and the ability to score and create goals from different positions. His work ethic and the intensity with which he trains and plays will really suit our culture.

"With George Evans departing us, the opportunity to recruit Allan to strengthen our midfield options was one that we didn't want to pass up given his excellent performances last season and the type of character we know he is."

Meanwhile, Andreas Voglsammer's Millwall contract has been cancelled by mutual consent, with the striker joining German second division side Hannover.

The 31-year-old scored three goals in 45 appearances for the Lions.

Millwall have signed Japhet Tanganga on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old defender is the first signing for Lions manager Joe Edwards since taking charge in December.

Tanganga, who came through the Spurs academy, made his Premier League debut in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in in 2020.

"Japhet expressed a strong desire to come to Millwall," said Alex Aldridge, Millwall director of football operations and recruitment.

Tanganga represented England from under-16 level through to the under-21s, and was selected in the 2021 Under-21 European Championship squad.

The central defender, who can also play at full-back, is expected to be available for Saturday's London derby against Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.

"Japhet is hungry and motivated to play games, he has some excellent attributes as a defender and has played at a very high level with Tottenham Hotspur, so we feel he is a really positive addition and we look forward to working with him," Aldridge added.

Millwall have signed Burnley's Republic of Ireland striker Michael Obafemi on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Turf Moor since joining permanently in the summer from Swansea City, having previously been on loan.

He has made just two appearances as a substitute in the Premier League this season and last scored in February.

Obafemi began his career at Southampton before moving to Swansea in the summer of 2021

"Michael is a player who can add a new, exciting dynamic to the squad and we are really pleased to welcome him to the club," Millwall director of football operations and recruitment Alex Aldridge told the club website.

"Heading into this transfer window, adding additional strength to our attacking areas was one of our main objectives, and when Michael became available on loan, we felt we had a great opportunity to sign a forward who has proven his quality at this level."
