Euro Champ qualifiers: Norway v Scotland
#1
Scotland "sitting pretty" on six points at the top of Group A with two victories in matches 1 and 2 (a big 2-0 win v Spain btw!). Still a lot more work to do albeit a great start to the campaign. Now the boys travel to Oslo for a testy match v Norway tomorrow, KO 5.00pm. Haaland clearly the big threat to our 100% winning record - gotta deal with that defensively! Hendry looking like Erlin Haaland's main marker although I'm sure Stevie Clarke will have deployed a defensive strategy that will give the big CB additional protection. I hope Scotland can put in a decent away performance as our away record needs improving as we progress through this quali-group campaign. C'mon Scotland! Keep playing well and with newly-found confidence!

Three wins out of three. Who'd a thunk it?

Question is, can you keep it going?

Well, well, well!! What a huge confidence boosting victory tonight!! Scotland and the Tartan Army "bouncing" after this win! The boys put in a low key away performance until that soft pk award suddenly changed things and noticeable that Scotland's possession suddenly increased from about 25% to 75% (in the last 15 mins) and certain players "clocking" the fact the Norwegians thought they'd won this match. NOT SO EH! Also the manager's use of subs in the second half absolutely crucial in making this pivotal result happen. Noticeable that Scotland suddenly "upped the ante" as soon as Haaland was substituted - a case of bang, bang, GOTCHA and the sign of a vg team esp when not playing as well as they can. Three group matches and max pts registered. Gotta keep it going - beat Georgia on Tuesday night and Steve Clarke must seriously consider looking at winning Group A, never mind being the runner up. This current player squad looks good enough to do that although still more work yet to do. All good so far! Well done!! Thumb up

What a result that was!!!! 2 wins from the last 3 games with Georgia/Cyprus should be enough.

There was definitely a bit of cheating going on in that game, that PK was absolutely a "lets get haaland to the euros" type effort. The ref was a homer throughout.

I thought again stevie got the tactics right. We defended very well in the first half, the high line helped us as Norway were using a lot of cross over runs. We caught them when they thought they were home and dry.

I've given Dykes and Robertson a fair amount of stick but they were both great yesterday - big dykes does a lot of the dirty work up top and his awareness for th e 2nd was great.

Think eventually lower EPL clubs are going to offer Clarke a gig. He's done a great job.
