MANAGER

Sabri Lamouchi (born 9 November 1971) is a French football manager and former professional footballmidfielder. He is currently manager of EFL Championship club Cardiff City.

Unlucky with us injured after 7 minutes on debut never seen again

In The Dressing Room

Andrew Hughes is back in training after missing the previous three matches through injury, and his fitness will be monitored prior to Saturday.

Aside from the long-term absentees, Ali McCann and Emil Riis, there are no fresh injury concerns to worry about heading into the weekend.

Daniel Johnson is set to play his 327th game in a Preston North End shirt, which will see him go joint-22nd in the club's all-time appearance list.

A Look At Our Visitors

Cardiff City are in their fourth consecutive Championship season, following relegation from the Premier League in the 2018/19 season.

Arriving at Deepdale with just six points separating them from a place in the relegation zone, Sabri Lamouchi’s side have no doubt taken confidence from their 2-0 Severnside derby victory over Bristol City last Saturday.

Despite the bragging rights and the all-important three points, they lost their starting ‘keeper Ryan Allsop due to a straight red card, meaning the Bluebirds will require Jak Alnwick’s help at Deepdale.

Going Head To Head

Games played: 100
PNE wins: 36
Draws: 25
Cardiff City wins: 39
Last victory: Cardiff City 0-1 PNE, 29th December 2017

One To Watch

Jaden Philogene has been a young talent proving his worth through Cardiff City’s tough season, since joining on loan from Premier League side Aston Villa in the summer.

The England youth international has already netted four goals in all competitions, with his most recent strike coming last weekend to clinch a 2-0 Championship victory over rivals Bristol City.

A 21-year-old winger, who can also operate in the midfield on either flank, Philogene possesses the turn of pace and chance creation which can keep any defence on their toes.

Match Officials

David Webb is the referee in charge of Saturday afternoon’s game, having overseen both sides on one previous occasion this season.

Webb gave five yellow cards and a penalty to the hosts when PNE beat Reading 2-1 away from home in November, while his Cardiff City game ended in a 1-0 victory to Hull City, despite the Bluebirds missing a crucial penalty.

In total this season, he has taken charge of 30 matches, showing 90 yellow cards and three reds.

MACS VIEW

As we head towards mid table mediocrity we welcome a Cardiff side just above the drop zone if all go well we shall donate points to them to ensure Blackpool take their rightful place in next season's Papa John's trophy.
They won last week will be interesting to see if they change their style of play under the new manager although won't see it until next season.
We are unbeaten in five although 4 were draws, two more games both away next week then the International Break probably be a draw.

Cardiff City line-up: Alnwick; Ng, Kipré, McGuinness; Philogene, Wintle, Rinomhota (Harris, 72 (Luthra, 90+3)), Sawyers, O’Dowda; Etete, Kaba (Ojo, 64). Subs not used: Romeo, Sang, Colwill, Davies.

Attendance: 14,295 (648 Cardiff City fans).

Referee: Mr D Webb.

The unbeaten run now stretches to six games with the win over the Blueirds today, it wasn't a classic although did slightly improve in the second half, which didn't take much give the first half was just dire.
A grey old day could just about see the snow on the hills near Horwich although they were soon to be obiliterated by low cloud which a cold rain.
Two changes Cannon returned for Evans and Woodburn for Browne who was on birthing duties as his partner was firing one out.
The first ten minutes were disrupted to a head inhury to Eoodman making a brave clearance at the feet of an on rushing City player, the keeper seemed to receive a cut around the eye, the lesser spotted Cornell got ready to make his league debut but Woodman played on which is perhaps as well as he won us the game.
Wintle looked to be through on goal however the massive frame of Bambo denied him, Parrott curled narrowly wide from a short corner whiclt Philogene went ever so close with an effort fromoutside the box. Decent player this lad. The two forwards caused us issues mind you our inability to pass to anyone in a white shirt may have led to that.
Bambo narrowly wide at just on half time, dare to think what those who were watching the international feed thought of the first 52 minutes

Luckily there was some entertainment in the second half Cannon fired straight at Ainwick whilst Woodman had to make a brilliant save from Kaba, also saved well from a free kick from NG.
We took the lead moments after Alvaro had had a glorious chance following a cross field pass from Potts, scuffed his shot wide, but gave us a slight bit of momentum, which led to the goal, ball over the top Cannon got the better of Kipre sent McGuiness the wrong way before blasting home.
By this time City had substitued Saba seemed a strange decision to me, but Philogene was causing us loads of issues, into four minutes of stoppage time Alnwick flattened Cannon who was through on goal, red card, Luthra came on to make his debut he palmed Whiteman's free kick straight to Evans, job done two up, game set and match

Preston boss Ryan Lowe said:

"I just want to win as many games as we possibly can and see where it takes us. We've got a small target of points that we'd like to get to before the international break.

"If we feel there's a right challenge we can go and do, then we'll sit down and we'll all agree on something that we might be able to do. But I'm not getting carried away with it.

"What's most pleasing for me is to win two back-to-back home games at Deepdale, which we haven't done for a while.

"The attitude and the application in training the lads give us on a daily basis is fantastic."

Cardiff boss Sabri Lamouchi said:

"We are very disappointed because in the first half we were in the game, created a chance, it is not easy to play here, but we started well.

"Then in the second half after some good minutes and a couple of chances, we lost our mind, we made stupid mistakes.

"The goalkeeper being sent off two games in a row, it is unbelievable, but even that we can avoid, we should put the ball out of play, it was our mistake. We need to move on.

"Jac is very disappointed, but it wasn't his fault, we gave him a very bad pass."
