Town v Brizzle City - Reasons to be Cheerful - Part 3
#1

Part 3 minus 1?

First match thread I recall starting with a vid, well certainly one of mine Big Grin
Enough of that doom and gloom stuff, we've a battle or two to win.
Onwards and upwards, take the battle to the doom mongers.
Without hope we have nothing.

Carry on my wayward sons,
There'll be peace when you are done,
Lay your weary heads to rest,
Don't you cry no more.

(Apologies to Kansas Whistle).

I hope I'm not alone on this thread but boy (or girl, or whatever fluid other thingy you think are right now, however that works) it sure felt like it walking back to the station even amongst the hundreds making the same heads down walk Saturday afternoon.  Whistle

The McGalphsmiths Stadium
It will be colder than a witches tit on Tuesday night,
And there won't be as many hot bodies around,
To keep you warm either.
Put a couple of extra fleecies on,
And maybe drag those thermal undies,
Back out the bottom drawer.
HD1- just ower t'bridges off Leeds Road.

Kick-off 19:45 UK Time
Tuesday 07/03/2023

No pay on the gate so get yer tickets early or cadge a season card off your mate who isn't going.

Well both Brizzle and Town have a river near their stadiums, the difference is they have a few of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's finest engineering feats (or replicas) in and above theirs, we have a few dead dogs and supermarket trolleys in ours. The bloke that used to play in the big town down Penistone Road brings his lads up the M5 (and whatever route they choose from J4A, there's nowt in it) to Gods own County on Tuesday night. Hopefully they'll freeze their nads off and go home empty handed, but on current form, they likely won't.

On the tellybox

iFollow for those that buy it abroad. It's maybe on the Red Button on Sky, or an added extra (or whatever they call them) at the bottom of the Now TV channels if you've one of their subscriptions. Then again, it's rearranged from FA Cup R4 weekend, so it might not be on at all. They usually aren't, but you never know until the day.

Edit - AmChaff tells us it's been spied on Sky Sports news as available. Get the beers in folks.

Good luck with the Radio App. Radio Local shoved us back onto that Digital frequency you can't receive in the stadium on Saturday (well I can't), you might have a chance of listening to Oggy, The Hairdresser and the Princess of Bellend Road on Tuesday, though with a bit of luck she'll have been packed off to Wassall with the Bratfud lads after she cheered them to a late win at the weekend.

Which might also refer to some of our upper management in some peoples eyes ......  Whistle Just saying like. Big Grin

Latest news

Well, Wakey has got his finger on a button that the club and The Unexamined ain't exploring or explaining right now .......
Over to you Wakey if there's any more updates.

Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating/Pissed Off and Sulking

Most of the supporters - I expect home support to be down at least 30% from Saturday. Think we've a few loanee's who didn't realise what they were walking into.
There were two on the bench on Saturday that were expecting to play more than they have so far, hell, I was expecting them to play more than they have so far. Get yer finger out Knocker. The other one is an international goalie being kept out by a kid from the land of Oz.

Other than that, Headley's hammy job on Saturday will keep him out until at least next month with the International break coming up.

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame

Rambo was back on the mic on Saturday, he suddenly disappeared at half-time a few weeks back, I've not seen why (nor dug too deep either to find out why). If it's personal, I'll let sleeping dogs lie but his counting was way, way off for Dizzy Penalties at the weekend. Can't believe he was intimidated by a skinny teenage(ish) kick boxer.

Otherwise it appears from the pressers that Colin still doesn't know who his least worst starting 11 is yet.

Last time out

It was fugly, certainly after the first 30 minutes. We had 3 "shots" on target. The first was a free header at the back stick that Lowton headed straight at the keeper. The second was a shot from the edge of the box by Scott High that the keeper got down to save at almost full stretch, just after they scored. The third was a shot by Rudoni about 3 minutes from the end, but we'd all left by then.

Brizzle went over the bridge (or through the train tunnel) for the Severnside derby, and blew a big hole in their 9 match unbeaten run by losing 2-0 at Cardiff. Thanks lads, we appreciate it, (not).

If a set of results could go against us, they were always going to go against us on Saturday, as I alluded to in the thread for that match.

The good news and reasons to be cheerful are,
L666s were only 25% as fugly as us but got the same number points as us, and ...
all those kids I used to go to school with that were so call Man 'nited fans got it real fugly on Sunday. Laugh
Hope the rest of them enjoyed the drive back down the M6 to London on Sunday evening. Twitter and bisted? What me? Too bloody right.
Starting to look like we won't be ordering tickets at Bellend Road next season though, another reason to be cheerful, for some of us.

Musical Interlude

I'm giving Brizzle the night off - you may have noticed Whistle

Well right now, when it comes to staying up, we are ...

Shit, hope I've enough vids available for all that erm, motivational crap. Big Grin
Gonna have to use links for the rest.

The Sack Race

Colin is still in the building. I wonder how long he's got the lease for on the place he's rented?

Tables, Form, or lack of.

This looks awful, it won't look much better Wednesday morning either, no matter the result

Brizzle lost their first 2 games to Hull and Blunderland, then went on a 6 game run of 4 wins and two draws that put them briefly up in the nose bleeds. Brizzle being Brizzle however, they only won 3 more between their 3rd Sept. 2-3 win at Blackburn and December 26th (W3, D4, L9) to head towards the trap door almost as fast as QPR. They then went on that 9 game unbeaten run (W4, D5). They have been very streaky all season, and Colin has a love affair with the Brizzle fans, going back to his days in charge at Palace, so let's see if he can extend their current streak by another game.

We could use a few more green shoots of Spring in our results column.

Who's banging 'em in

Their leading scorer might sound familiar and Alex Scott played so well against Citeh in the recent Cup defeat that he's now supposedly worth more than the whole Town squad put together.
Not hard to believe to be honest.

They can't all lose

There's only 3 catch-up matches Tuesday and the only other one that matters to us is Wigan at WBA, unless Reading suddenly find themselves back on 38 points.

We've played 'em before

We did the double last season, the odds are in favour of them doing it this season.

Next up?

Boing, Boing, Baggies, Baggies on Saturday, and, yes, we do know who's in charge down there.

At the end of the day, if it's all goes for a ball of chalk this season, if it hasn't already, well, you can still support Town next season or on the other hand you could always ....

Nice one, theo Thumb up

No, we're not going either. If the players can't be bothered to show up, why should we?

I'm not sitting out in that cold at my age and quite frankly, neither should old Mr W.

The website I normally use for tellybox confirmation of what's on world-wide, not just here, still doesn't show it, but the Sky website shows 3 games tonight will be available on the Red Button.

Tonight's crowd will be the lowest league crowd to date. They are just not worth the effort.

There is light at the end of the tunnel but the longer it goes on the longer this mess will continue. Come 9th May we will be looking for or 4th Manager in the space of 10months!, 5th if you include the caretaker. We desperately need the takeover done ASAP so we can start planning for next season. We don't want to be going into the summer transfer market with no permanent manager and the current board strangling the club as far as finances are concerned.

The dominoes need to fall in the right order and I don't see the first one falling this side of Easter unless we are already mathematically relegated or safe, which is far less likely at the moment.

I think it's got a good chance of going through before the end of the season. With one shareholder skint and the other wanting out they aren't left with many options, obviously a League 1 club isn't worth a much a championship club but I'm sure any deal is factoring that into the sale of the club.

1) Continue to put money in at a loss to the owners
2) Put the club into administration, they then lose a fortune
3) Sell Up and recoup whatever is on the table

The sticking point seems to be that Mr 25% wants the thick end of his loans back which is more than his shares are worth, whilst Mr. 75%, who hasn't a pot to piss in (debatable if he ever had one according to some) wants 100% of what he thinks his 75% of the shares are worth, even if he paid next to sod all for them in the first place. In effect Mr. 25% wants more out of this deal than Mr. 75% and Mr. 75% wants more out than he ever put in, hence the bun fight at what was once The Rope Walk Corral.

Or am I over complicating this piss poor excuse for a piss-up in the absence of a brewery? Huh

PS - I've not entered that end of the stadium nearly all season so I've no idea if the todgers at the right royally piss poor brewery known as Greene King have reopened the Rope Walk.
