WBA Transfer Window: (Summer 2015) Starting early..
I'm also sad to see Dozza go - although he didn't quite fulfil his potential he was an honest club man who caused no problems. No more Dozza, Mozza and Fozza then Sad  but I wish him all the very best if his loan to the Canaries does come off.

Olsson would have been a good buy but, if its true he was late for a medical and/or insisted on a relegation clause, his was only out for himself and no interest in the club.  Let him stew in the Chumpionship !

Anyone know whats happening with Brown Ideye ? I think, given time he could come good as when he has played, he's had some nice touches. He just needs a couple of goals to boost his confidence.
Ideye is staying put with WBA

Right after having calmed down a little now after last night,

It seems the club were not to blame in any way for the break down of deals last night.

Dave Kemp was in talk sport this morning and said exactly what happened.

I'll start with Martin olsson,

"I have no Idea what happened to the lad, the deal was struck in the middle of the morning, he had plenty of time to get here",

"Why he arrived so late with no chance of a medical being done only he can say "

Carlton Cole,

"Cant say to much all I can say is Carlton took a few Albion Staff aback with a phone call before he storming off to leave"

Now read this

Carlton rants at Allardyce on phone.

"You're ruining My F*****G Career"

Cole simply thought he was signing for us for 500k, was not told it depended on incoming targets.............

If i have to be picky we should have gone all out for a winger and should have had backups for the two that fell through,
Although it seems the Club were convinced they were all going to happen,

Can't help thinking the Dorrans loan is going to screw us out of a few quid.

I don't even think he'll excel at Championship level anymore - they probably will not want
to make it permanent...

Still, suppose the club were hanging onto the Olsson hope so can't do much. Personally I'd
have liked to see Dorrans sold. But for a couple of flashes, he's been treading water for years.

Best of luck to the lad though. Was excellent in the promotion season.

Beefy we normally agree but not on this.

The transfer window is not one day!!!!  It is over 30 days, we look at the transfer window's last day and think, this is what has or has not happened.

We had over 30 days to sign deals, not go out and scout who we would like or negotiate a deal for the window, which can be done at anytime, just to sign deals. So yes the club does have to take some responsibility for not achieving anything they wanted.  Another winger, a striker and a full back (TP) there is no excuse for waiting for a last minute fire sale other than trying to get a bargain.
Well we have agreed in a way,

I said we could not be blamed last night,

And further on down you will also see my surprise no Winger was close,

Adding that no plan B's were in place it seemed strange to me,

I was trying to get Bill Howell the guy who replaced CL at the Birmingham Mail to chat last night,
He is useless, never responded answered any questions what so ever,

Must say CL did respond and keep us up to date regularly.

Not Bill Howell,

He popped up at 8 o'clock

Albion trying to get a fourth signing through,

Who any idea i asked ... Nothing

Ok may be keeping mum.

Is it a winger Bill thinking he may give us a hint.

Even when the deadline passed i asked who was the fourth Guy , Sweet FA

Waste of time this guy

Please come back Chris , Im 100% sure he was making a fourth target up for something to say,

Even Steve Madeley was better and always in front with his info !! Angry

I still don't think people realise how very difficult it is for any club, let alone one at the lower end of the Premiership to secure a deal in a transfer window.

If you are a player looking for a change you will naturally not jump at the first offer that comes your way (unless its one of the big 4). You will assume that if one club is interested then so might others and you will wait to see what unfolds. Things only become clear once we get to the final days of the transfer window as clubs make decisions, move on other players in order to buy replacements etc.

I have no doubt that we enquired on over 40+ players during the window and I have no doubt many of those enquiries have been active throughout December as well. It just does not happen, very often, just like that.

The Carlton Cole example is a perfect example: He was not our first choice striker, he probably wasn't even our fifth. But he turned out to be available, IF his current club transacted their business.

I 100% agree that it is hugely frustrating that we failed to refresh the squad and we only got a couple of players. But I blame the system not the club.

This summer it will be just the same. We all know major changes have to happen. We will be linked to 40+ players again. We will complain at the lack of movement all summer and then there will be a flurry of activity in the last week before the season commences after a player has realised we offer them the best chance of Premiership football from those making offers.
drewks and talkSAFT like this post
Exactly, Stairs. And that's why the Authorities should scrap the stupid Window, and allow Transfers throughout the Year.
It clearly doesn't stem Inflation.
Someone, somewhere at 10 o'clock on deadline day is trying to decide on a move to a "big" club. Ripple effect then f#cks it up for everyone else.
Bonum vinum laetificat cor hominis.
