Nicola Sturgeon finally begins the process of separation!

The genie is out the bottle on that though mate.... its about taking back sovereignty innit ?

I doubt that this plan wouldn't end up in the supreme court or contravene the GFA in some aspect.

And it now transpires that the rich political nobody, our Sec of State, Alistair Jack, is being given a delayed life peerage by Johnson FFS?????? Delayed by a year in order to avoid a certain by-election defeat in Scotland!! The cynical manipulation of politics is jaw dropping!! I despair!! And allowing another wealthy c### to "dip into the public purse" thereby plundering our money again!!!!! Thumb down Add in Annabel Goldie, Ruth Davidson???? What did they do for Scotland and Scottish interests???? Provided ineffective political opposition to suppress Scottish interests and the quest for self-determination - UTTER FAILURE REWARDED BY THESE TORY BASTARDS!!! Also add in Lord Offord of Garvel, another rich chap who contributed hundreds of thousands of pounds to Conservative Party funds and rewarded accordingly as well as being appointed as the Under-Sec of State for Scotland. This is cronyism and corruption in full view - done with utter impunity and yet we are powerless to do anything about it up here in Scotland!! Dodgy

No United Kingdom in 5-10 years? It's amazing that there is not a lot more than 2/3 of Scots who think this is the case!! But good enough!! So, start joining the Scotindy bandwagon and "get on board". In fact, the starting gun will be fired on Wed, immediately after the UK Supreme Court decision re the legality of a Scot referendum being held. No matter what the outcome actually is, choose your venue where mass gatherings of Scotindy supporters will take place all over Scotland with the biggest one outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh - TIME TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD AS A SCOTTISH CITIZEN/VOTER.

So that will be the third starting gun (at least) then that she's fired so far? Make it 4 with the original failed attempt that Salmond ran?

The SNP/SNP govt is the "vehicle" for Scot independence Theo. However, the people will ultimately "make it happen" eventually. The biggest factor in this quest is the "express train" coming down the tracks that consists of a new generation of young Scots (age group 17-45 YOA) who regard Scottish independence as normal and there is about 75% pro indy support within that group that is unswerving.

Yeah, whatever, keep voting until you eventually get the one vote you want and count it as a 1-0 win even if it's actually a 3-1 defeat. Like I said before, I'd be happy to vote for you lot to leave too if I could, only you didn't quite understand what I meant by that. No, I don't vote Tory either.

Love to know what you guys will find to moan about when you do eventually get "your way" because you just will. It's the way you are.

Probably something about the British Government (English to you) owning the energy infrastructure that you think you now own because it just happens to be on your land. Well, when you can prove you actually have the keys and titles and all that that goes with it, it's yours. You can't just claim it because it's there. Most of it was paid for with UK (some Scottish), EU and oil/gas company money and not all of those are British either, plus huge chunks of Scotland aren't owned by Jocks either, but don't let that worry you..

Being told you moan too much by a Yorkshireman Laugh Laugh I've heard it all now.

It always amuses me when i hear those down south giving it the "i'd happily vote for you lot to be independent"... its the ultimate pat on the head, and exactly the same kind of "pipe down jock" that you'd expect from the blue rinse brigade in chipping buggery.

It's coming from the same place as the "too poor, too wee, too stupid" pish we usually get, even from some of our own, and looking over the fence at the open bin fire that is England it's getting very, very tired.

Well said! Succinct and straight to the point! All I'd add is that England really needs to "find itself" and they can do that without us!! It will take a long time IMO btw - that "open bin fire" is well and truly blazing!! One of my biggest bugbears has always been the Better Together (Have you noticed their disappearance from the Scottish political landscape? And no wonder - all their anti-indy propaganda/pro-Union promises proved to be false and utter lies since 2014!!) assertion that we are all the same in this country. One of many stabbing criticisms I'd utter right away is, "We don't consistently vote in bloody awful governments up here"! There are many other cultural differences and other factors as well!! Wha's like us eh!!? Bella Caledonia is unique and that's a fact! Lastly, I must say, "It's crazy that the world's most powerfully devolved parliament needs a court's permission to consult its own electorate despite so many elections and mandates won by political parties which support independence".

For what its worth i don't think independence would provide some kind of panacea. There clearly would be struggles and tough things to confront, but weighing it up with carrying on as a plaything of a frankly increasingly rabid, right wing westminster.... i don't really see many other options available.

I don't see any reason why we couldn't go on and be a success in time.

As expected, the Supreme Court ruling by 8 x English judges, 2 x Scot judges, 2 x Welsh judges, 2 x Irish judges, rules against the democratic right of a Scot govt and Scot people to hold a referendum!!! Thumb down So much for this voluntary Union that has been preached by all and sundry who are opposed to Scot self-determination. Nicola respecting the decision of the court and mass demos expected tonight all over Scotland. Ultimately, only politicians can settle this issue once and for all as it aint gonna go away. IN FACT, IT'S GONNA CAUSE AN ALMIGHTY POLITICAL STOOSHIE!!
