Onwards dwnwards only with only two games last the position of stromgest in the league welcomes us, due to some back luck and mainly we have been pants most of the season with occasional exceptions, this was ne of those exceptions. BAE won convincingly in the end but we made them work for it and for a rare occasion we fielded a full 40 overs. Which also presents problems as the longer you are out there the more knackered you become.
At 15-3 we had them on the ropes but as always seem to be the case we come up against a decent batsman who we cannot dislodge, Muhammid Hussain in this case who stuck around for a long while for 46 buiding partnerships with those coming in later down the order, notably Thomas. We were treated to a cameo by Kuldeep Singh using only one batting glove and giving an impression of a latter day of player from the late 19th century with an extravagent swing of the bat.
Three wickets each form Wright and Conn with Dave Lever with figure of 1-15 in 10 overs.
Down to bat at seven chasing 171 expected to have a bit of a rest before putting my pads on. Fourth ball of the first over wickets gone and on go the pads, facing the leagues top wicket taker Singh who was slightly better than most we have faced this season, so we were bundled out for 46 apart from one legged Marcus Webster who made 16 it was a bit of a procession.
Strangely actually enjoyed the game mainly because it was after 5 when it finished.

The end is almost nigh the last match is this Saturday although that could depend on the impending demise of Her Majesty.

This was a clos game although the scores do not reflect it, lost the toss and put in. A steady trickle of wickets on an odd feeling surface felt like a bed of straw, highest partnership was 13 between myself and Neil Hankey although we were helped by a shed load of wides from Oliver Szigeti, faced most of his bowling hard work batting when you don't know which area of the square he will pitch it, in my case he bowled me which reunited with earth when it hit the wicket, possible no ball for height not given. Hankey made 21 being given out caught of the arm.
Newcombe took 5-12 apparently he's only 12 We were all out for 57 about 20 runs short given what happened next.
The only innings of note from the opposition was from Chris Duffield who made 31 and saw them home. Duffers until two weeks before the season started was our Chairman and second team captain, left the club after failing to be informed that we had opened merger talks with local club Fylde.
Mistakes were made but they were not insurmountable but off he trotted, got history he disapeared half way through a season a couple of years ago
To make matters worse we dropped him three times, probably may have won the game but he saw them to victory, wasn't easy probably one of our best battling performances of the season
As stated last game this season Vernon Carus 3rds Flintoff's team none of those lads will be playing but hey we got a refurb pavillion out of it

Just hope it pisses it down - end of any other distractions that quite frankly should not stop any sporting events in my opinion.

A minutes silence or applause is enough in my opinion, she's no more or less human than the rest of us and quite honestly, I'd have sent the whole lot of them back to Germany given the chance.

Oh yes, I recall being bombarded by whatever wet stuff you call it when we played Posh at Old Trafford and it seemed to drum the roof off every Monday or Friday I used to be in the office in Trafford Park. I assume it didn't happen otherwise at weekends or during the week when I wasn't there. Likewise it never rains when I drive over the Pennines and back to or from Wolverhampton, given that Manchester Airport is in Cheshire, or is everything really in North Staffs from somewhere near Chadderton to Knutsford Services and beyond?

Hey, dance down the wicket and swing a full blooded one at the first ball, what can possibly go wrong?

Four down passed short leg or anyone hugging the mid on or off positions, unless the bowler has the reactions of a cat, a six back over the bowler's head or stumped? So one in three chances of making 0 unless you dolly one to any fielder in those positions either side of the wicket, but I doubt there will be 6 of them waiting that close either side of the wicket somehow.

The orange juice tastes better when you've got first dibs and all the ice hasn't melted yet, plus the q to the bar is shorter.
