McGinn ffs ......

1-2. Keeper fucks up.

Ukraine the better team on the night, but McGinn Doh  We needed quality finishing at that stage of the match although we didnae deserve a comeback goal!! A goal pressurises the opponents at 1-2!! He didn't do it and it was a dreadful miss!!! Thumb down The Robertson debate arises again - why is he so shit in big Scotland matches????? The third goal, albeit a last secs breakaway goal, all down to Robertson's lack of "speed of thought" - move forward and the player is clearly offside ya clown!!!! He didn't "read it" on the halfway line at all!! Thumb down Wtf was Robertson thinking about plus his touch and lack of awareness was unbelievably poor - dispossessed at crucial moments late on in the game!! Clarke also not "out the woods" with his starting line up, system/shape and choice of certain players - WE CAN PLAY MUCH BETTER THAN THIS WITH A BETTER LINE UP!! They were "up for it" and naturally so, but where was the solid structure, the organisation, the commitment that are the hallmarks of Clarke's Scotland sides???? WHAT A SHAMBLES ALBEIT IN A VERY DIFFICULT MATCH, INDEED A UNIQUE ONE TO HANDLE AS A PLAYER!! They failed that test!! Thumb down

Clarke has done an OK job but he fucked it with his tactics tonight, that was on him. What was he thinking of ?
Tierney makes his 3-5-2 just about work but tonight showed you the reality.

Only Craig Gordon and Callum Macgregor can really say they turned up tonight.

Yep! McGregor tremendous under the circumstances with so many players "not up for it" - scored the "lifeline goal" and a tremendous goal-saving tackle to avoid a third Ukrainian goal. Gordon immense, but he can only do so much with a chaotic "three at the back" formation and playing man for man - ANY FOOL COULD SEE WE NEEDED A FOURTH PLAYER AT THE BACK TO GIVE ASSURED COVER AND DO IT QUICKLY AS IT WASN'T WORKING IN THE 1ST HALF. Agreed Tierney's pace and awareness just made "three at the back" functional for Scotland, Tierney a big miss as previously feared! IMO the likes of a vg German manager would've "changed it", a tough call after about 15 mins, nae messing!!!!!! What is wrong with our managers when it comes to this kinda observation when a change is imperative?????? OR DID CLARKE CONCEDE THIS MATCH CONTRARY TO ALL BEING SAID BEFORE IT?? The decision-making was awful coupled up with a crap HT team talk that had to be so significant and uplifting!! Failed Stevie!!

Robbo saying in his post match interview that "some of the Scotland players haven't had enough big match experience like this and that'll stand them in good stead for future tourneys" - a bit rich esp coming from him and he didn't have a particularly good match! Craig Gordon more measured in his PM response and agree that "we can play badly, but still come back to even win this kinda match - gotta take the goal opps" (John McGinn nightmare btw!!).

He really isn't doing himself any favours. If he was pished 3 days before the CL final do you think klopp would have played him ? The guy is never a captain in a million years, the way he bottled that shot at the edge of the box alone had me shouting things at the tv.
Clarke should just have started with a 4-5-1 and at least we could have got our better players more involved ie midfielders.

I know i keep going on about this, but i just can't stand dykes. He is nowhere near an international footballer, and if we are playing mctominay at all it shouldn't be at CB.

A bad night capped off by listening to that perennial loser craig levein's wisdom afterwards.

So many bad calls by Clarke last night. McTominay positional gaffe one of them. Fielding Hickey in this type of match and in this this awful defensive set up was a criminal offence IMO. Also unfair to a young up n coming player.
