Putin and his illegal war on Ukraine? How to view it objectively after past events?

Yep! It's become very depressing viewing from places like Mariupol and eastern Ukraine where heroes are sacrificing themselves on a daily basis while their govt is asking for more weapons to stop the Russian assault and some kinda token victory for that shit heid Putin.

A period of appeasement (remember Chamberlain's pre WWII conciliatory tone right up to 1939!) for the west and NATO up to which defining point when these Russian "butchers" of ordinary people decide to attack other liberal sovereign countries that are peaceful and keep on doing it while the west looks on!!? Rolleyes I personally wish there was some way to send a rescue mission in to Mariupol to liberate the defenders of that devastated city while "kicking Russian asses" out of the region altogether and back to their own country. IMO it's the right thing to do, but fear dominates the politics to the point where western politicians keep "talking a good game" while the Putin moron continues to devastate a country that never asked for this murder and mayhem in the first place. And we can't even drag this killing bastard in chains from Moscow to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to be put on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity - lets not forget his role in the Syrian conflict either!!

And it looks like Mariupol has finally fallen in one of the biggest war crimes ever witnessed during this century!! A sad day indeed and one of the few strategic victories the Russians have attained. I hope the Ukrainian military  regroup and take back what belongs to them!! A "big ask" I fear!! Sad

Johnson has been one of Putin, and his friends biggest allies for years.... Opening up knighthoods and the Londongrad launderette for the tories slice of pie.

Now he's Winston xxxx Churchill. While letting planes head to Russia from Inverness.... Presumably purely innocent.

He's the Eton trump alright, and even someone as limp and uninspiring as kieth would be an improvement.

This is one helluvah courageous woman who I wholeheartedly salute!! I fear for her safety in such a brutal authoritarian country and govt that her banner has succinctly exposed as full of brainwashing propaganda and lies. Time to hide/"go underground" methinks!

If anyone's interested in what happened to Marina Ovsyannikova, she's continued protesting against the war, and last month was arrested for standing on an embankment opposite the Kremlin holding up a sign calling Putin a murderer and his soldiers fascists. She's now been sentenced to house arrest until October, and may face ten years in prison. In court yesterday, she showed a message to the cameras saying MAY THE DEAD CHILDREN HAUNT YOUR DREAMS AT NIGHT.

She's swimming against an impossible tide, sadly, but whatever happens to her, I hope she'll be remembered for these small acts of defiance.

Absolutely Ska'd. As previously said, "I salute this courageous woman who is facing up to these terrorists/cowards - Russian govt officials who have no respect for democracy or the democratic rights of another sovereign country"!! I fear for her safety and can only pray she'll survive this period of anarchy in her own country.

This is state terrorism in full view again. The Ukrainians have their independence day celebrations, albeit subdued because of the threat from Russia, and the Russians fire in a few missiles on this Ukrainian town's railway station. A couple more young kids added to the total death toll as well as many other unsuspecting Ukrainian residents going about their everyday business. It never stops! Then there's this real nuclear threat at the zaporizhizhia power plant - scary stuff akin to the Chernobyl meltdown many years ago! And Putin apparently issuing a state decree to "rope in" another 135k young army recruits. What a f###### horrible country this is and surprising nobody has assassinated him yet even though he will no doubt be heavily protected.

Very good news from Ukraine as President Zelensky's autumn offensive in Eastern Ukraine has taken control of Kharkiv and much more territory east of the city right up to the Oskil river. The Russian military retreating en masse and bad news for Putin and his cohorts. Ukraine suddenly seizing the military initiative and being successful in the process.
