Listening to a Ukrainian MP, Helena Lynchenko on Euronews, mourning the loss of what she reckons to be about 20k people in Mariupol due to Russian bombing and shelling of the city. She emphasised that figure in utter despair - 20 THOUSAND PEOPLE DEAD, MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN, MANY OF THEM DYING DUE TO A LACK OF BASIC FOOD AND WATER!! She is pleading for a "no-fly-zone" while slamming into the impotence of NATO and how it is losing all its credibility, hour by hour. This is clearly a highly complex issue that is not easily resolved without there being potentially huge consequences for the participants, but I can still empathise with this woman's plea in highlighting the fact that more and more people are dying, hour by hour, because of Russia's freedom in Ukrainian airspace and officials in the west, who are "talking a good game", seem to be oblivious to this human tragedy with the "big players" not doing enough to help such a peaceful sovereign country that never deserved this devastation forced upon it.

Still finding it hard to believe if Putin is firing (however inaccurate theirs are) Ruski cruise missiles into Ukraine towns, cities and military targets that some painted with a Ukraine flag on them (launched from wherever, with a tad more accuracy) haven't knocked on the doors of the Kremlin yet. That might wake up the dozy bloody elderly Russian population to the fact there is something other than a "Special Operation" taking place in their name in their neighbouring country where many have family.

The majority of Russian people believe the garbage and distortion pumped into their homes by the state media is the truth. They aren't dozy. Their lives are controlled. Their vision is restricted by carefully constructed blinkers, which they have never been without. Like most people in the world they want to live their lives fairly happily, raise a few kids, pet a dog, have enough food to keep them happy and somewhere warm to sleep ........ They're told they are having a Special Operation against Ukrainian xxxx then that's what is going on and even if they have friends in Ukraine telling them different they mostly refuse to believe it. Because that would destroy their world.
The trouble with NATO's expansionism is that although its aim is to keep more of the free world free and free from attack, the bigger NATO gets the less able it is to act. One Russian toenail on NATO soil, thirty countries are then committed to involvement - that's a world war. So all NATO can do against Russia's firepower is threaten. Add Finland to NATO you get another line of defence against Russia and one more potential threat in Russia's eyes. Every step to make ourselves more safe, makes us unsafe by that exact same amount.

Sorry but they are dozy, as are far too many in this country. We're fed bullshit by our government and media too, maybe not quite as wall to wall as Russia and not just about our country but about the likes of Russia and China too.
Those of us that aren't dozy, question it and look elsewhere to see what else is being said elsewhere and form an opinion on what is likely to be really going on. The dozy one's in this country voted for Brexit and the Tory government even though they are shitting all over them and many still believe every word Bodgit says, because they believe everything they see, hear and read in the narrow minded little corner of their Tory media controlled world.
Before you ask, no I don't do Faceache or many of those lie spreading website type things like it and I don't do it for a damned good reason.
Some if us as kids listened to Radio Caroline and Radio Luxembourg under the bed clothes on "cheap" Japanese tranny radio's when the BBC was insisting playing the likes of Bernard Cribbens "Hole in the Ground" as their idea of "the cutting edge of popular music", even though the signals from the North Sea and beyond were shit. Why? Because we worked out there was something better out there to listen to and eventually after trying every way they could to block them, they set on most of their DJ's on in what became BBC Radio One. The survivors are now mostly on Radio 2.
The Russian kids have worked out there are "signals" out there that are akin to our Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline of the time. and offer a different perspective. If you never look, you'll never find.

Theo, I'm inclined to both agree and disagree with you on this.
The vast majority of Russians are not dozy, they have been brainwashed into believing everything the State tells them. The few that do publicly challenge the State view are disposed of in some way or another, so the rest keep their heads down and live a (relatively) quiet life.
I too listened to the pirate radio stations and Luxembourg, but also AFN (American Forces Network) broadcast from Germany and heard many Motown records long before they were released here. But we were left alone to be teenagers, not sent to the saltmines or whatever our equivalent was.
Cabbage is still good for you

I would then say brainwashed into being dozy. When only a few stand up they end up in the salt mines as they are easy pickings. it's spread all over their TV to keep the proles in order. It needs a significant minority or small majority to stand up to make the difference as happened in Ukraine and they changed to democracy.
A significant minority, mainly called Putin, has decided he doesn't like it and that same significant minority continues to rule the roost in Russia. Millions of people are ruled by a powerful but small minority. If the people of Russia ever wake up to the fact that a few (very few) thousand of his hitmen/thugs are controlling the millions, things might change.
The other thing is, Putin will quite happily murder and turn Russian troops on his own people. If he regards Ukraine as Russian he's been doing it for years already, let alone those that disagree with him.

Just look at the imprisoned Russian opposition leader, Navalny, facing more "bumped up" charges by the Russian state prosecutors re an additional fraud offence - worthy of another 13 years in prison FFS!!???? That's what I call state persecution!! Putin and his mob tried to kill the poor guy and failed in that "Salisbury style" attempt. I still can't believe he returned to Russia from his hospital bed in Germany to give these monsters an opportunity to imprison him. As that old Scottish saying goes: "You dinnae wanna dae that"!! If only I'd been one of his close advisers eh!! Meanwhile, I notice Bodgit visiting Saudi and exchanging pleasantries with Mohammed Bin Salman, the Kashoggi killer!!!??? All I can say is, "What a crazy world we live in", and couldn't agree more re previous comments covering the brainwashing techniques deployed in our own country and the huge number of dopes who are taken in by such spin/lies from the usual MSM sources and others. Different politic, similar methodology. Also, in this country we are similarly ruled by a minority group of powerful people/elites all tagged with a privileged education and background. The last three-four years of Westminster governance has been an eyeopener in that regard.

Acquiescence is at its most complete when you no longer realise you are acquiescing.
It is rather arrogant to believe from a lifetime freedom of imagined thought and expression, that you have any right to judge those who have lived their entire lives in a controlled environment in which being different and expressing opposition is a one-way ticket to hard-labour and a bed without a mattress.
If you were Russian would you trust that NATO is purely defensive ranged along your borders - with America and Britain as major players? Just take a look at the political murders and overthrows of governments the USA didn't like since WW2. Venezuela sits on a sea of oil, ask yourself whether Russia aggression, or American sanctions supporting a Saudi Price-Fixing Cartel are the reason for your prices at the pumps.
