Nicola Sturgeon finally begins the process of separation!
I agree with Ritchie, but I accept the problem of having a close result and half the country unhappy about the decision.

I've had to put up with Brexit, even though I strongly disagreed with it and its had an impact on my work life already. So yeah, anything over 50% will do.

I'd also expect the country to be consulted on rejoining the EU if we gain independence - or whether we take up another option like EEA/EFTA.

Ideally I'd like to see a decent majority around 60%. I believe that is still achievable based on piecing together all the OP figures that covered the past 14 months and looked like the average indy support was between 55%-58% at one point. The effect of the pandemic has hit indy campaigners because there has not been enough action "on the street" from AUOB and other aligned indy organisations whose members are "chomping at the bit" to get started again. However, it is fine using the Tory gov's own benchmark re past small margin winning votes like that Brexit one in 2016, they aint gonna get away with "moving the goal posts" as I'm certain they will try that - that's what fascist govt's, like Johnson's one, will attempt to do - no doubt!
Also re the peaceful Kenmure Street protest against that despicable Home Office incursion, here's a good poem re that small victory against such a cruel and callous form of immigration enforcement played out by this fascist Brit govt:-

There was no clash of claymores,
no blood spilt that day,
The battle won by witnesses and cries:
"you're welcome, stay".
The target cruelty itself, the strategy to shame.
To tell the world, in Glasgow, this is not in our name.

Diverse, yet united, for the Common Weal,
keeping crass brutality from staining Pollokshields.
It's not enough to sit at home and fire an angry tweet.
That's why I toast the heroes who stood on Kenmure Street.

Too right ritchie - we can almost top the Olympics medals tables on our own, why do we need those numpties from darn sarf to tell us what to do?

As long as I don't need a passport or an ID card to get up the M6 and ovver t'hill for home matches. Chuff me my season card and drivers licence should be enough.

Well, if the wee hen would bang on about something else once in a while it would help. I don't vote Tory and I'm not the only one that thinks the same.

She talks about loads of different stuff, but the press or the opposition parties always want to talk about independence and thats the noise you get to hear.
Actually the unionist parties are talking more about independence than she is at the moment.

Which leads one to ask, "What newspapers (if any) do you read Theo if your perception of the FM is that all she talks about is Scotindy"??? AS JIM SAID IN THE PREVIOUS THREAD - NOT TRUE!! Btw a recent poll conducted by Savanta ComRes, on behalf of Left Foot Forward (a left-wing news agency in Derbyshire) revealed that a majority of voters in England also believed the FM has the right to launch another referendum. That view was the same in the south of England albeit by a slim margin. This view piles even more pressure on the Labour leader, Starmer, as a majority 51% of Labour voters across Britain backed this view with only 21% against after discounting "don't knows". It's a common consensus with the STUC and yet muddled up Starmer still wants to remain intransigent alongside his shameless Labour cohorts/confidants, Ian "red Tory" Murray and Gordon Broon, a failed ex PM who recently "crawled out from under a stone" to utter some more of his "out of touch" anti Scot govt/Scotindy bullshit to a Scot audience that regards him to be nothing more than a "political dinosaur" who should disappear from the political scene for good.

I'd have been happy to give you an extensive list of publications, periodicals and websites from across the globe 0762, however the unwarranted personal attack has ended my interest in this debate. I got my (expected) answer to my question. I hope you do get your referendum and whatever the outcome is you respect it.

It wasn't a personal attack seriously Theo! I was curious to find out how you perceived that all that the Scot FM ever talked about was Scot indy and a Scot referendum. There must be some reason or source of reference that gave you that impression. Like Jim, I'm assuming that the Tory owned press/media in England really have "spoon fed" streams and streams of this kinda shit to a population that has been duped so badly by all kindsa Tory and Farage deceptions down the years to the point where they have endorsed Johnson's fascist govt to literally get away with any kind of corrupt and unlawful practise without challenge or accountability whatsoever. That seems to be the way it is going and it is very depressing watching this unfold from afar.

To be fair, Nicola does bang on about it, but probably because she is always asked about it. The press are desperate to keep stoking the boiler and it's always a good story for them to type thousands of words every week. It'll probably be worse now that Angus Robertson has been appointed as Constitution Minister, as he is too easy to wind up.

I'd much rather the SNP concentrated on acting in the best interests of the Scottish people for the next couple of years, then let Angus do his stuff.
