Johnson watch activated - the nightmare begins for the UK!!
Combined with Dido's "no one could have predicted another variant of covid" pish, today has been truly something else from our Westminster Overlords.

If the Tory lockdown doubters get their way and we go back to business as usual too fast then the vaccination program won't have as great an effect.
Also, a fourth wave of cases will be fairly inevitable. Can Boris not make that clear ?

Something stinks with the vaccine roll out down south. What do they mean by 'eligible' care home residents? Surely 100% of them are eligible. But wait : Dept of Health. The “eligible “ in English care homes means “ care homes with older residents and those not experiencing a covid outbreak”. So the 91% the UK Govt talks of is not 91% of those in elderly care homes. Likely to be considerably less given the pandemic.

What is clear is that they may be vaccinating a higher proportion of the population but they are not following the JVCI guidelines.

A friend of mine works in a care home. Someone brought Covid into the home just after the New Year. A few of the staff including her caught it, just after they were given the dates for the first round injections at the home. As a result, half of the residents have caught it and died and they still can't inject anyone until it's all clear for a period of time.
She's "recovered", in that she gives -ve tests, but not completely. Still short of breath at times and sense of smell not totally returned.

"Mark Harper, who chairs the Tory MP lockdown-sceptic Covid Recovery Group (CRG), said it would be “almost impossible” to justify keeping restrictions in place beyond 6 May, given the most vulnerable will have been vaccinated by then."

It's not just about the vulnerable though. It's about stopping the spread of the virus among all the population so it has less chance of mutating. But this is what I expected from tory MPs. As soon as their core vote are vaccinated it's time to open everything up.

Far too many Tories have vested interests in getting the economy up and running to learn from the lessons of the past year. We almost had Covid beaten, but we didn't press home our advantage by stopping incoming travel (among other things). When Melbourne had a Covid outbreak, the authorities shut the city down for over 3 months and got on top of the virus. Boris would never have the balls to do that, even though it makes sense. At this rate we'll never even contain the virus, never mind beat it.

Can I just add that you must watch the bbc documentary, "54 days" - it covers the start of the outbreak in China and the frustrations of medics and virologists esp in the WHO v political vested interest, delaying tactics, suppression of data/people, secrecy, cover ups - AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE! The second episode moves on to the USA incl the farcical lack of prep in the likes of the Centre of Disease Control (but knowing a huge pandemic was coming!) due to political intransigence by Trump and his lack of interest coupled with his own huge ego and "vested interest". I reckon the initial impulsive reaction from many affected people would be to somehow eliminate the whole Chinese govt if they had the chance and in the case of the USA eliminate Trump and all guilty associates as well!! My only disappointment re this documentary is that the bbc missed out on similar coverage of the British govt's activities from 3 Feb 2020 onwards. Was the bbc "encouraged" not to cover the British govt and medical/virology associates in the same way that they covered the USA??? If that is the case, I hope a separate media agency covers a similar documentary as the bbc prescribed re the USA's folly and fatal mistakes in dilly-dallying and also being landed with a failed US President who was totally "out of his depth" when confronted with such a huge historical medical crisis.

Brexit exposed again and about time too with many more critical issues to follow this one incl the NI one which looks like it could turn into a potential "powder keg" with extreme factions of NI unionism involved!! Great to see one of the biggest Brexit "decepticons", Gove, being shown up as the con man that he is alongside lotsa other shameless bastards in the Brit Cabinet who are as deceitful as him - the same unscrupulous, callous mentality that has been self-evident for a long time!

Brexit was all about massaging the ego's of a slack handful of politicians, some not even in Parliament - yes you Farage amongst others - and had no reason to even go to a national vote. Other than the fact that the idiot that was our PM at the time - Cameron - took far too much notice of his back benchers and even more notice of screwed up polls, the referendum should never have happened.

They (polls) were really wrong several times and still are, but the CONservatives believed them and nearly got skinned at least once in General Elections, lost a referendum that some of them still think is a good idea even though the polls said remain would win. As a result of procrastination and lies on a grand scale, the uneducated and the usual suspects voted to elect a government that can't organise a piss-up in a brewery. But as long as we're keeping Johnny Foreigner at bay and leading the world at vaccinations and Covid Deaths per 100,000, that's alright then.

And as far as that oven ready, easiest trade deal in history, frictionless trade pile of bullshit was concerned

I also notice some confidential Brit govt files apparently show they wanna reverse Cameron's 2012 reforms of NHS England. The Heath Sec takes more control of NHS England for starters. One immediately must ask, "What are these chancers up to"? Initially the bbc report looks positive re these "much-needed changes" but I still "smell a rat" and another form of cronyism coming out of this latest govt interest to change things - IS THIS MOVE JUST THE START OF THEIR SHIT ESP WHEN NHS STAFF ARE EXHAUSTED AND GEN PUBLIC DISILLUSIONMENT PREVAILS WHERE LOTSA FOLK THINK THE NHS CAN'T COPE BUT THESE BASTARD TORY GOVTS HAVE BEEN UNDERFUNDING IT FOR YEARS.
