The timing is all wrong Jim. I must say at this moment of crisis I have very little interest in such a stupid move at this particular time and I'll bet I'm not the only one. Record daily infections and sadly another 79 Scot citizens dead yesterday due to COVID. I even thought the bbc report "toned it down" compared with their normal contribution to anything that can potentially damage the SNP and the Scot govt. The insinuation itself has previously been made a while ago and repeating it is just daft or did the unionist media repeat it on his behalf by any chance esp when he said that he had "no intention of damaging the FM's reputation"? WTF does that mean??? I think the public reaction to AS will prob be similar to my wife who is not pro-SNP or pro Scot govt but regards the ex FM as a "sleazy get" and shady as f###.

It doesn't matter to Salmond. He is the wronged party here remember?, and if I had been subject to the kind of political conspiracy he has (and was exposed in court and in social media messages) I wouldn't be going quietly either.
He clearly wants sturgeon out of office, and it's likely she will face an election campaign with this going on in the background.

It is still "old news" TBH. I personally think that there were certain qualified people in the background who didn't do their jobs properly in assessing a misdemeanour case that could've been judged in a lesser court but wrongly raised this issue to a much higher profile and to the detriment of the tax payer - a shocking waste of money. AS was effectively a "lad" in certain behaviour patterns and that is a fact. I can corroborate that with reference to a close female friend of my family who had dealings with him many years before this shit ever hit the press - definitely a lad but as my wife has previously commented - at his age??? He should've known better!!

Aye. It was a misdemeanour (or various misdemeanours) as previously commented! I watched this action from the very beginning and the FM defaulted (in the parliamentary debating chamber) to allow an independent parliamentary enquiry to take place and to allow civil servants/legal advisors to consider any action to follow as well as applying some distance to a perceived "minefield" of controversy attached to the whole sorry episode. My default re this story is that Nicola Sturgeon was never the offender/the accused in this affair at all and the insinuation that she/they obstructed the enquiry at every turn does have some relevance but a lot of it is still speculative TBF!! Also the shock on her face when this revelation initially "broke out" in the media was 100% genuine, no doubt in my mind! And obstruction to achieve what end?????? To protect her position or to protect the female accusers who appeared to be at the forefront of this story? Is it the case that she didn't want to compromise herself with any of these people incl Salmond???? A truly intractable position to be in and could it be the case that there is an element of protecting one's own self interest esp when the evidence is not as foolproof as many people seem to think it is i.e. the conspiracy theorists who were never involved in any of this shit anyway. Therefore it all becomes speculative and possibly "messy". The FM appears before the parliamentary investigative committee in a couple of weeks, as does Salmond. So more info may unravel after that stage of the enquiry. Btw the idea, esp coming from the Tories (who would love it to happen!), that she should resign is real "cloud cuckooo land stuff" coming from political people who do not like her or her high popularity in Scotland and esp after witnessing worse actions by people within Johnson's govt, their political masters. Eg listening to the orchestrations of that little shit heid of a Scot Tory non-entity DROSS, who could never "lace Sturgeon's or Salmond's boots" in a political sense, just makes me baulk in utter amazement at the huge "vested interest and bias" as well as more of the hypocrisy that this man espouses.

It's not 'speculative' at all that sturgeon has misled Holyrood, it's a matter of parliamentary record.

The bottom line here is sturgeon and/or her hubby knew there was no chance of getting Salmond out the picture using the previous process, so they invented a whole new one to try and come up with some kind of “case” to at least justify a criminal trial. Even though they tend to need evidence for that.

Sturgeon and the SNP are deeply concerned Salmond/Cherry and several others could break off and form another party that would challenge them and take grassroots indie support with them!

Veering away from this issue Jim, my main concern is again the timing of this move purely from a selfish Scotindy viewpoint. I don't wanna see any kinda inner fighting going on in the lead up to an important Scot general election. I'll never forgive the lot of them if they f### about during such an important period when the Scotindy movement is still restricted in campaigning properly and effectively although the one "saving grace" is the fact there is no accountable unionist opposition in Scotland - THEY ALL UTTER THE MOST SHAMELESS UNCONSTITUTIONAL BULLSHIT ON BEHALF OF THEIR UNIONIST POLITICAL MASTERS IN LONDON!! Positive Scotindy support corroborates that fact. Bottom line is I wanna see unity and I don't believe even Salmond would risk fragmenting the movement as his lifelong indy objective is the same as the FM's initiative. All that he will achieve is prise away a certain percentage of the Scotindy support. I still maintain there is a huge number of people in the movement who view this story as "sleaze v a person of high regard who is definitely not sleazy" as well as Salmond being the past face of the SNP push for Scotindy. We shall see how it unfolds. I just wanna emphasise there were a lotta unionist bastards/media out there who savoured the moment when Salmond was gonna be convicted of said offence and it didn't materialise as I predicted with reasonable certainty on another OP. This latest episode is another scenario that neither party wants to see where these desperate c#### try to gain a foothold, albeit a minor one, in the run up to 6 May 2021. You'll gather the bigger prize for me is eventual self-determination and in an ideal world I'd like to see all this kinda infighting "put on the back burner" until the bigger prize is finally obtained. However, one must also mention the huge challenge of dealing with this current COVID crisis as well - can't ignore that and it is a top priority at the mo for obvious reasons.
