I invested in one of those a few years ago, over here they are called refrigerators, they make all the ice I need automatically and dispese it out of the front of the fridge!!!
I have two fridge/freezers and a larder fridge but having ice dispensers in them takes up room that could be used for more important things
Seriously though, I've been quite lucky or foresighted and one jump ahead because of the various shite that happens from time to time in this country be it strikes, 9/11, Black Mondays, blockades etc.
For years we have always had at least a months supply of food in the house, hence the copious amounts of fridge/freezers, topped up and rotated and with the fresh stuff that is still available I'm maintaining that level. I've always kept things like flour and yeast for bread making anyway. We've also always done the same with bog roll and other toiletries too and if the worst comes to the worst we could always use those shower gels that everyone gets for Christmas and birthdays that they eventually donate to a charity tombola (and invariably win back again) for hygiene. Same with medicines etc.
This philosophy allowed me to be ahead of the game last week and I knew they would start shutting pubs etc like in mainland Europe so I stocked up on beer, spirits, wine, soft drinks and snacks while people were panicking about bog roll.
Today I have brimmed my car with fuel while people have been panicking about beer, soft drinks and snacks
