European Union Referendum - In or Out??
Also re that reference to Scottish independence in thread #1599 and it being "taken off the table" by a RW Tory government - UDI anyone???? Imagine the great possibility of a SNP-Greens democratically elected Scottish majority government with a natural mandate to push for self-determination but still impudently dismissed by a shitheid RW British govt. Grounds for a Unilateral Declaration for Independence? IMO absolutely!! I believe that roughly 50% of previous UDIs have been successful and some of them have resulted in hostility, others a peaceful transfer of powers. The most famous hostile UDI was the American one that resulted in the Yankee Continental Army defeating the British and ending colonial rule once and for all. The rest is history. Ireland was obviously another infamous, hostile UDI with many lives lost on both sides. A more recent successful UDI that I can recall is Slovakia's push for independence in 1993 and the country is located north of the Balkans as well as being a smaller nation than Scotland and borders Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Ukraine. UDI is definitely an option that could be chosen if Scotland is given no other choice due to the intransigence of an antagonistic British govt.

Hearing our trade minister Liz Truss talking up how being out the EU means we can have 'free ports'.

Ignoring

1) Being in the EU didn't stop us having free ports.
2) We had free ports in the EU but got rid of them as they did little trade wise.

Its quite scary how xxxx thick these people are.

This woman Truss is a RW lying shit heid, pure n simple!! She has previously clashed with the Scottish govt on some outrageous comments she made re Scotland's finances and certain contributions that were made by the UK govt - quickly "corrected" by the Scot Finance Minister, Derek Mackay, as a deception. I've previously watched her "act" on bbc progs like Newsnight and QT, which I no longer watch any more as "fed up" with the partiality given to Tories and RW c#### and the disproportionate representation of political views in their audiences. There are various women in the Tory ranks who behave in a similar manner to Truss and are right-wing, always appear on the brink of anger, full of angst and definitely lie to suit their own ends in this desperate quest to impose Brexit on the British population. That is why she is in Johnson's RW govt and in Scotland we have a new Scot Secretary of State with similar views but this one, Alistair Jack, is the equivalent of a rich country laird, a Brexit one who nobody in Scotland has ever heard of, spouting off what we Scots must accept from a Brexit deal - 21st century Scotland and we still can't get away from this contemptuous form of "upper class rich appointment" to impose his RW beliefs on a population that doesn't share them! I also think "trouble is brewing" in Scotland if this is how the Johnson govt wants to operate in my country! The Scottish govt and Nicola Sturgeon must "play them at their own game" and use this type of aggressive politics to cutely gain a political advantage esp with the Scottish Tories and Davidson ironically devastated by their own political party, a party that is "fractured" beyond doubt by Brexit. I'm also more n more convinced that we need a 2nd EU referendum which a "remain" vote will definitely win and that is why these RW c#### continually wanna suppress any notion of it happening! Such a vote would eradicate Farage, Johnson and all the RW backers and associates who have infested the British political scene since that ridiculous Brexit vote came about in June 2016.

They aren't even hiding it now - Francois and his ERG mates making it clear they won't vote for the backstop in any circumstance. That means no deal Brexit is the destination.

So the backstop is irrelevant to them really, even though its the only viable solution.

These nutters won't support any Brexit other than a no deal. The backstop is just an excuse.

Remember that the "backstop" was actually a British idea as part of the Good Friday agreement! That is what really "pisses me off" re these shameless RW cretons trying to place the blame on Ireland and the EU with all their bullshit after their previous machinations failed re using effective electronic border controls. Remember that political ploy by Rees-Mogg and many of his RW buddies!!!? Now we'll just try to shut it down eh - shameless bastards who shouldn't be anywhere near the occupation of a British government!!!

Yup. The backstop was actually the most sensible idea mays government came up with, and even then it was because they know its a square peg/round hole type scenario. Nothing else comes close to solving it....apart from just staying put.

I previously mentioned in another thread that Swinson and the Libdems could be the "fly on the ointment" in this whole crisis - untrustworthy and their past black track record really backs it up!! After reading this FT shit, the "alarm bells" are ringing loudly!! What one can only hope is if/when it comes to the "crunch" who is alongside Swinson at a senior Libdem party level to actually "tell her" she is "out of order" or has the Libdem party actually been hijacked, post Vince Cable????

I notice BoJo now trying to enter the law n order debate with proposed higher prison sentences, more money for extra prison capacity and more "stop and search" practise - IMO bluster to get headlines to attract the support he can get from voters in the country. Also where is the "magic money tree" to finance all these new measures when May's govt exchequer was effectively skint. Tory bullshit as usual and one can only hope that most people can see through these kinda rushed policies with very little "thought" put into the fact the probs are far more complicated than eg "banging offenders up in prison for longer"!! These are highly political so called "tough measures" rather than having a genuine interest in resolving a lotta the social probs that were indeed exacerbated by the policies of shitheid Tory govts and currently we have been landed with another one!!
