The future prospects of Catalonia - the hustings begins!

Fisk is one of the most respected UK voices on middle east affairs, and he is actually there right now. Unlike a lot of the journalists giving him abuse on twitter.

What he says on the subject should be taken very seriously indeed.

And a rare dissenting voice aired on the BBC:

Good pragmatic comments by Lord West and wowww - nobody on that programme trying to suppress his comments either. An opinion that kinda throws doubt on May's certainty on 'whodunnit' in tandem with Fisk's articulate report 'on the ground'. Note that being present at the 'incident of relevance' is something that none of the bombing participants have been privy to anyway!

In the Barca v Seville Copa del Rey final, the colour yellow banned by Spanish security officials/state Police who are seen ripping into the wearing of yellow scarves, llibertat shirts, banners and these morons citing the colour, yellow, as being a threat to the Spanish govt and King Felipe VI - WTF is the world coming to when not enough criticism and protest being made by other Euro govts incl ours !!??? What a farce over wearing the colour yellow - freedom of expression etc! What an absolute disgrace and I think the best thing the Catalans could do is declare a Republic of Catalonia and get away from these provocative c#### asap!

The Spanish PM, Rajoy, removed following a vote of no confidence by his govt allies - absolutely deeeelighted that this fascist has 'fallen on his sword' and not surprised that he has been involved in a corruption scandal and trying to 'cover it up'! That is one horrible RW shit heid gone and hopefully that will be the start of the demise of many other horrible state leaders who are spread across the world and peddle the same despicable and ignorant ideologies under this banner of 'acquired power'.

Spain now has a socialist, anti austerity PM and no doubt an election ahead. He seems like he wants to work with the EU and keep the euro though, as spain is showing signs of picking up economically.

At long last - talks between Spain and Catalan separatists begin after a 7 year period! Definitely lots to negotiate but it's a "small step" towards an accord that needs to be "thrashed out" across a negotiating table.

Great to see the full force of the Catalan indy movement (well over a million on the streets of Barcelona and contrary to that Independent page title!) on their National Day and making it absolutely clear to the Spanish socialist govt that they are "alive n kicking" and not gonna go away! It's a bit like the political landscape in Scotland where the British state and shameless unionists up here are trying so hard to suppress an indy movement that is growing by the day and they, and their media/press backers, again want it to go away and try to ignore it as much as they can! The techniques are so similar and contemptuous!

On the 1st anniversary of their successful unofficial indy referendum tomorrow, millions of protesters expected on the streets of Barcelona, Girona and other staunch pro indy towns n cities within the region of Catalonia to highlight the intransigence of the Spanish gov re the still jailed politicians, the forced exile of their revered leader, Puigdemont, and other lead govt officials implicated in illegally organising said event plus the fact the Spanish govt are still trying to sweep the presence of the massive Catalan indy movement "under the carpet" - totally unacceptable and further protests and measures will be planned and sanctioned as the organisers "see fit". This issue is not gonna go away!

Last Wednesday saw the 1st anniversary of the forced imprisonment of the two Jordis - Cuixart and Sanchez. A full year in prison without any trial although falsely accused of sedition by the Spanish govt. Imagine if you or any members of your immediate family were "done" in this way!!?? Absolutely ludicrous and I notice that Amnesty International have been "on their case" for the past 10 months and no f###### wonder while the world has forgotten about this injustice!! Thankfully the people of Catalonia have not nor have they forgotten the other 7 members of the Catalan govt who were also imprisoned by an EU member nation whose officials have forgotten their own EU rules re such constitutional matters.

This level of punishment proposed by these Spanish prosecutors is absolutely astounding! One part of these charges is an insinuation of violence against the Spanish state - an absolute lie. IMO this is close to being a form of incitement to pull a "reaction" from the Catalonian people and, in particular, the independence movement. One can see why adversarial nations can finally "bear arms" because peaceful action is not gonna work esp with a Spanish judiciary that is being manipulated in some way by Spanish govt officials!
