Burnley have been handed a Battle of Britain tie against Aberdeen on their return to the European stage after a 51-year absence.
The Clarets, who finished seventh in last season’s Premier League, were paired with the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership runners-up in Wednesday’s draw for the Europa League second qualifying round in Nyon.
Sean Dyche’s men will travel to Pittodrie on Thursday, July 26, with the Dons, who famously won the European Cup Winners’ Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson in 1983, heading south of the border a week later.
Should be interesting!

Aye! An interesting early season EL tie. This will be a tactical 'game of chess' but Burnley definitely the favourites with a EPL pedigree and good home form.

At least the dons will get a right few quid for that.
I expect burnley to win through, but aberdeen should be the fresher side going into the first leg.

In 1981 Aberdeen faced Ipswich Town the current UEFA cup holders and probably the best side in the country, hell of a team they had too
Naturally Scots football was a joke to many yet it was the Dons who came away winners
My love of Scottish Football is exactly what happened last night, many people thought the expensive EPL team would demolish the `pub team`
Didn't happen and they resorted to long ball tactics and in the end a pretty even contest
Still believe Burnley will probably win but it`s good day for the SPL

Exactly.
The english totally overestimate the quality of their game and how hard it is playing at this time of the season. I reckon celtic would beat burnley comfortably, and aberdeen and hibs would run them close over 2 legs.

FT and a 3-1 win for Burnley in ET after a valiant effort by the Dons who "took it to the wire" with some great saves by Dons' goalie Louis. The 3rd Burnley goal never a pk, not deliberate hand baw and a tad unfair at that late stage of ET. Cork's winning goal for Burnley well set up and a great header at the end of a good attacking move. So Aberdeen FC eliminated and Hibs and Rangers progress to the 3rd quali round of the Europa League.

Joe Lewis been a great keeper, typically overlooked because he plays North of the border
Really proud of the effort though, hopefully changed a few perceptions, well done to Rangers and Hibs!
