Just as long as the defence keeps up its good work so far. It would be typical Wednesday to start scoring and the defence to start leaking goals

We have a terrible record record with former heroes as Manager - Dooley, Wilson, Turner.
All ended up sacked & their hero status tarnished.

Would be nice for the lad to get a few, and if he becomes a prolific goal scorer in Div 3 then there might be a job for him in Div 2.

The great thing about Helan doing well at LB is that we don't have to rush Mattock back. We have a bunch of games coming up so we will need a full squad, get him fit over the next week or so and ease him back in. He is a better defender than Helan, but Helan's pace allows him to make up for his mistakes. Going forward I think Helan is the better option, but that does require Drenthe to provide cover for him. Maybe putting Helan on the left wing, with Mattock at LB and Drenthe behind the front two would be an option, but that may be too progressive for SG!!
As regards Madine, I still think he can do a job for us, he knows where the net is and is the sort of striker that if we get the service right he will score. I also think having him upfront with May would give us two strikers who know how to score and run a front line. Hopefully this loan will get his confidence up and he will come back a better player.

Here you go MM, with a bit more investment in the playing staff maybe we can achieve the same results as Burnley did!!!
Burnley post losses but essentially break even before promotion bonuses!!
Burnley were promoted last season, much to a lot of people's surprise, and show what a club can do if the investment in staff is made correctly!! Their turnover is very similar to ours, they are at 19m, I think we are at approx 18m. They spent 15m on wages (playing and non-playing), I cannot remember what we spent but a figure of 12m sticks in my mind. If my numbers are correct, they spent an extra 3m or so on wages, probably players, to enable them to compete, but due to the quality of the running of the club essentially broke even after promotion bonuses were removed from the figures!!
Sure we all know that SWFC was in a terrible state when MM bought us, from the lack of any youth or scouting system, to a ground that still today needs some investment today, but there comes a point where we need to invest more into the first team, players and management, to give us a shot of challenging for promotion. The crowds are dropping at the moment and are probably 4-5k below where they should be and where the break even point is. If we had sustained the start we had, then I reckon about another 3-4k per game would be achieved, but our slide in performances and down the table has seen a similar slide in attendances. We are still not out of it this season technically, but we see little potential at the moment to even suggest we can get back into the top half.
We need a couple more players, a decent striker and maybe another midfielder (not seen enough of McGugan to know if he fits the bill yet) but more importantly we need MM to put in a little more than he has been doing to achieve this. Maybe more importantly though, I really thing SG has taken us as far as he can with the resources he has, so either we get rid and bring in a manager who can get more out of the current squad, something I think we all this is possible, or we give SG the money to get in some quality. Either way, he needs to spend more, not a ton more, but more than he currently is.
Rant over!!!

Emile Heskey willing to return to playing for leicester
Never a prolific striker, but maybe a better option than Nuhiu for us?? Not suggesting he is even remotely interested but does anyone think he could do a job for us in the Championship?? No idea if he would even be willing to play for us but for me it would be an interesting option.
