Record £10m signing Brown Ideye has also struggled to make an impact but the Baggies are unlikely to offload the Nigeria international in January with officials reluctant to write off such a large investment.
They still hope Ideye can find form once he adapts to life in England, with his wife and two children finally due to join him next week
Didn't realize he was on his own in the UK having his wife and kids joining him can only be a huge plus and could help him settle in the area a lot easier
As for wholesale changes in January i really can't see it happening! i would of thought Peace would rather get rid of Irvine and give the new man chance to work with the summer signings. The story makes no sense at all to me

Well here we go................
Stunning admission from the club if this is true. They rushed a load of signings through in the summer in panic and most of them have failed and will be allowed to leave!
With 14 players departing in the summer, Irvine has already admitted that the club’s recruitment policy over the summer was rushed out of necessity (will he get his wrist slapped for that) and he has been disappointed by the impact the new arrivals have had and will allow some of them to leave to fund new signings.
The papers are saying that Alan Irvine is ready to jettison 5 of the summer signings as he prepares to revamp his squad in January.
- Silvestre Varela
- Chris Baird
- Jason Davidson
- Sebastian Blanco
- Brown Ideye too unless we send him out on loan to rebuild his confidence!
So, despite saying not to expect much - the expectation is that assuming we sell them, we will replace them. Therefore expect them to be busy!
Front runner could be a loan agreement for Arsenal's Joel Campbell although apparently there is more concern at the Albion with finding potential new clubs for their fringe players. Any offers for Jonas Ollson will be rejected.

Naturally Saido Berahino is attracting interest from various clubs - notably Spurs but also Liverpool are rumoured to be interested.

Says Cantello 'Well I guess something's gotta give, because JP doesn't like doing business in January, so it'll be a major surprise if several players are switched then.
All I know is that when Blanco played he looked to have got plenty of quality, and Varela's been on the opposite wing to Ronaldo for Portugal, and looks class when he got on the pitch for us.
Anyway, new signings won't make any difference, because Al said you can't experiment in the Premier League, and that's what using a new player would be.
Also new interest from Spurs in 'Boozy' Berahino.
Whatever next I wonder, although if Irvine hasn't been given a talking to up his anti, after the next two games he could be looking at the exit sign - you heard it on here.

Links so far: Agyemang-Badu (Udinese), Sean Kavanagh (Fulham), Jonson Clarke-Harris (Rotherham)and Rolando (Porto).
Outs:
Olsson linked with Villa & QPR. Berahino linked with Spurs, United, Arsenal, City, Liverpool & Everton. Pocognoli linked with Napoli & Lazio.
I doubt any of those links are likely to happen and I don't know much about these players.
I'd like a back up left-back, a winger and maybe a striker. Baird out as well.
I think you have to find our best team to figure out where we need players.
Goalie and defence are fine (first 11), Davidson may not be good enough, so someone there and maybe him out. We need to be in a position that Baird is never even on the bench.
Centre midfield is good and we have a big squad now with solid depth there.
Wide positions are more complicated. I'd have Varela as a guaranteed starter on the left and I don't know what to do on the right. I don't really want Sess out there or Brunt (I see him more as a decent option in centre midfield now). Imo it would be best to give Blanco or Samaras a go there (providing they'll track back properly). I want a winger who can start regularly.
We're decent up front but I'd like someone experienced who can definitely finish.
I'm not sure I want anyone out except Baird and Davidson as we're unlikely to make a lot of signings.

I think the on thing we definitely need that glaringly obvious is a right winger.
Lass Bangoura would be my shout. Contract up in the summer and fastest player I've ever seen. Although i'd genuinely take any right winger ATM!

Very Very rarely do we sign players we're linked to in the press but i thought i'd post the latest ones for those that haven't seen anything:
Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Marshall is reportedly a target for Premier League West Bromwich Albion and Championship promotion favourites Derby County.
According to the Daily Mail, Derby manager Steve McClaren has been looking to bolster his side this January in order to give them the edge in a tight promotion race. The report adds, the club have money to spend and McClaren and his scouts have been looking at players in England and in Holland.
The Blackburn winger ticks the boxes the Rams are looking for this January and could make a bid to prise him away from their promotion rivals.
The 23-year-old has been in outstanding form this season and is rightfully considered as one of the best wide midfield players in the division. So, it’s not difficult to see why the former England boss has set his sights upon the player, especially as he created a goal in the game against his side earlier this season.
-----------------------------
Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong is being pursued by West Bromwich Albion , according to the Scottish press.
The Courier newspaper, in Dundee, is reporting that 22-year-old Armstrong has been watched by Baggies several times.
Albion scout Stewart Millar reportedly ran the rule over Armstrong during Dundee United’s defeat to Aberdeen last weekend.
Hull, Celtic and Sporting Lisbon are also believed to be keeping tabs on Armstrong.
-----------------------------
West Bromwich Albion have opened discussions with Djurgardens over a deal for teenage Swedish midfielder Filip Tasic.
The 16-year-old had trials at Arsenal earlier this year and has since attracted further interest from Malaga, Valencia and Schalke.
-----------------------------
West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keeping an eye on teenage winger Sullay Kaikai.
The 19-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder, who is out of contract next summer, is currently on loan at Cambridge United in League Two.
Kaikai, whose first team path at Selhurst Park is blocked by Wilfred Zaha and Yannick Bolasie, has made just one appearance for the Eagles, scoring on his debut in September in a Capital One Cup defeat to Newcastle.
According to www.sportinastorm.com Albion sent scouts to watch him score the winner in Cambridge’s 1-0 FA Cup win at Cambridge on Tuesday.
