Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general
Fessi came through ok and scored from the spot !

The positive is with a stronger squad we'll pick up a few points, the negative is that it's too little too late.

Many of us are going to be expecting a lot of activity regarding players leaving.. I don't have any confidence in the backroom staff or management to appropriately see that necessary measures are taken.

In fact, after all the incompetence this season I expect more of the same. So watch this space for Loovens & Wallace getting contract extensions

exactly statesider !! we will see a few leave at best mostly due to fifafoulplay rules ! but the incompetence is rife infact its so bad i exspect Butterfield to sign and a red&white striped shirt with ticket prices rising another 25% !!

Personally I think we have started to turn things back around. There are even retro stripey shirts back in the "super" store !!
Even if we have to sell a few high earners in the summer to help with the money side then that's OK if we can pick up a few younger gems from Jos's knowledge of leagues and contact in Holland and a Germany.
I suspect that the push at the end of last season had us using players that shouldn't have stepped on the field - Lee being the worst ever example of terrible player injury/recovery management and Fessi having a bad knee probably didn't help with his penalty taking in the SF . Then that combined with summer sacking the medical staff and a lazy pre-season just contributed to the long term injuries we've had most of the season.
I'm hoping we have a few outs/ins in the summer and a workman like pre-season preparation to see us have a decent 18/19 performance.

Plus if we sell Winall to Derby then the deal has to include them having to playing Butterscotch in every game even if only 25 % fit

could the Rumours be true about Barnsley Mick ? i think he would do quite well with the quality we have they just need to be battered every now and then !!

I hope DC doesn't read the column by this guy. He starts off saying why it's necessary for out of contract players (there are 7 of them) to move on, then in discussing them one by one only recommends that ONE goes - Kean. He even suggests giving Loovens a coaching contract. What is this, a professional sports club or a charity agency?

I agree he would get them into shape but the football would be generally dire!! I just think he is an old school dinosaur type manager who doesn't let flair players be themselves and stick rigidly to a defensive formation. I get that he has had no budget at Ipswich for years but not sure he could get us promoted either.

I am still of the opinion that Jos might be the right guys given a full summer transfer window and pre-season.

Jos still needs his chance to be fair. He's been left to operate with absolute shite in a competitive league, for half a season tops.

We and he don't know who his strongest XI are. He might not produce thrilling football, I think he'll steady this sinking ship though.
