Just checked has only hit four first class centuries not surprising as hardly ever plays red ball and when he does never tends to grind it out

Somerset 335-9 we put them in on a wicket which won't get better!!! Century for Davies 4 wickets for Parkinson, Essex in a good position at Birmingham

Somerset 335 Lancs 133 and 28-0
To put a side in then have to follow on does leave some of us slightly confused, especially as Somerset said hey were going to bat first if they won the toss. Could go down as a bit of a boo boo by Croft. Unless we pull out a miraculous victory Essex will be Champions by some time tomorrow as Warwick seem to have little appetite for sticking around. Never mind always next year

May have been the wrong decision to put them in

The visitors closed on 247-8, 45 runs ahead, but Essex's victory over Warwickshire means Lancashire must win or the title will go to Chelmsford. Haseeb Hameed made a gritty 62, while Liam Livingstone battled for his 57. Spinner Jack Leach (4-79) starred again for Somerset, who began the game second from bottom of Division One. Essex beat Warwickshire by an innings at Edgbaston Relive Thursday's Championship action Should Lancashire force a miraculous win on Friday, leaders Essex would need only nine points from their two remaining matches to be crowned champions. More likely is a Somerset success, which could be enough to lift them out of the relegation zone with two matches remaining. Right sole aim for the rest of the season is to send Yorkshire down, congrats to Essex.

Only an unlikely victory would have been enough to keep Lancashire in the title race following Essex's innings win over Warwickshire on Thursday. Somerset took the final two Lancashire wickets cheaply on day four and chased their target of 68 comfortably. The defeat leaves Lancashire 56 points behind Essex with two games to play. The Red Rose county remain second in Division One, while Somerset's second consecutive Championship victory may be enough to lift them out of the relegation zone once the ongoing round of fixtures has been completed. Lancashire led by only 45 runs overnight with two wickets remaining and Somerset seamer Craig Overton wrapped up their second innings quickly, bowling Kyle Jarvis and then trapping Tom Bailey lbw. Leg-spinner Matt Parkinson (3-37) took two wickets in two balls during Somerset's chase but the home side knocked off the runs required in just 13.3 overs. In their first season with Glen Chapple as head coach, it has been a year of progress for Lancashire. A first Championship title since 2011 has eluded them, although there has been no repeat of last season's narrow escape from relegation.

Middlesex v Lancashire @ Lords 19/9/2017 to 22/9/2017
The last away trip for the Red Rose, although the Championship has gone there is a hefty cheque for finishing second with Middlesex still in danger of going down there is something on this game. #Lancashire travel to Lord’s tomorrow looking to end the season on a high with the first of two victories. The Red Rose can no longer win the Specsavers County Championship title, but a win against last year’s champions Middlesex at the Home of Cricket would leave them within touching distance of second place. That would certainly be a positive outcome following last year’s seventh placed finish in Division One when they were only 10 points above the relegation zone. Lancashire are aiming to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Somerset at Taunton. The county have not won a Championship match at Lord’s since a 10-wicket victory in 2006. They finished second in the table that year too! Since then, Lancashire have lost away to Middlesex twice and drawn once, the latter coming last June. Middlesex are in the relegation zone and involved in a tense three-way battle it avoid the drop with Somerset and Yorkshire. Lancashire are 17 points clear of third-placed Surrey, who visit Emirates Old Trafford next week.

Middlesex latest 159-7 Roland -Jones and Rayner holding up Lancashire, sounds like it is a result wicket so do not expect the game to last the full four days.
