South Africa's tour of England 2017
Westley, malan and tobias skelton roland jones all make debuts as england win the toss and elect to bat first.

Jennings kept his place and duly delivered another duck. Time for him to be sent back to durham and for hameed or stoneman to come in. Bumble and warne talking about rashid and how he should be in the side and should have been all series.

There's a lot of confused thinking amongst the selectors with too many having their fingers in too many pies, their selections for a fair while have been largely reactive and misjudged rather than instinctive. There was rumours last year that strauss was going to sack them, its probably time he did so and got more modern minds in there

Decent(ish) first session from England, played it cautious after the inevitable Jennings duck. Westley's played some cracking shots, but crucially not too aggressive; has waited for his moment and picked the shots.

The only way is Essex.

Great day for England so far, put up more runs than it looked like they would at the start of play and now 3 quick wickets at the start of the SA innings. England standing on SA's throat, now need to apply the pressure!!!

Cricking cracket from England all day. Stokes channelling the old Beefy spirit to get his century with three successive sixes. Toby Roland-Jones smashing the world's top ten batsmen on debut. England in the box seats.

Trying not to get carried away, because England being England they'll play like absolute drains in the next Test, but this could be a crushing win from here.

Rain stopped play, but England ticking over nicely. This innings is last-chance saloon for Jennings, and credit to him, he's seizing the opportunity so far.

This has been England's to lose ever since that battering Toby Roland-Jones gave the Saffers on Friday teatime. Just need to get over the line now.
