At least in the Championship most teams try to play football and not murder the opposition so I'd rather he was blooded at this level from our bench. If he turns out to be shite then so be it. It's not as though it will cost us any points if he fails because no f'ucker else comes on and wins us a game anyway  Doh

And yes Wereham, I have coached and played at semi professional level  Whistle

SEMI PRO isn't pro though Maddix ... I played semi pro, though never coached at ANY level, but played against ex pros and they were SO much better than anything I played against even though they were retired .. a MASSIVE difference between semi pro and pro !!

A fair point Thumb up but it doesn't change my opinion that Hirst would be better off in our 1st team squad with the odd 20 minutes and still playing for the U23's midweek than getting crippled by has/never have been thugs in the pub league Cool

That lad from Stocksbridge Park Steels was quite good at semi-pro though Thumb up Vardy I think his name was Thumb up released by one of the Sheffield clubs as not being good enough Whistle

It's not just the lack of new faces Chaz. Looking at our holiday tour in Portugal it seems obvious that CC intends to carry on with his 4-4-2, hope we can keep a clean sheet and FF score a goal, tactics that everybody had sussed last season and more scarily intends to make Poodle our new CB Doh Other coaches are not stupid and will already have the game plan to beat us. Most of our opponents will have marked us down for a 'gimme' 6pts already. We are so predictable I know when I can go and make a cup of tea without missing anything during a game. God knows what 'the experts' have thought up to counteract us in the actual game.

But they didn't suss us out last season, we still finished 4th, we won 24 games and amassed 81 points, so the opposition managers didn't seem much better than CC is being portrayed. I know we still need a couple of players, particularly at CB, but being able to retain our best players has to be a bonus compared to everyone else!! I saw a stat the other day that 96% of the minutes played by us last season were played by players still at the club, this is the model that Brighton followed, keep the squad together and add a couple of better pieces rather than wholesale changes. Boyd is an upgrade on Wallace for me, now we just need 1 or 2 more to improve again.

Wallace was one of our better players IMO. It's the others I worry about Laugh

but there's no getting away from the rigid 4-4-2 at all costs problem Cool

He was but that was unexpected. I think both him and Boyd will play a role this season still but with Boyd we will get more energy and a player that will not be the first sub used most games.

As regards the 442, yes you are right there. By being rigid with it we have to make it work almost perfectly most of the time or else we struggle. We have to score the first goal to really do well and then we do much better playing counter attacking football, its when we concede first that this rigid system fails.

The signing of Rhodes has for me pushed us more into a rigid 442 system. When CC arrived first I remember MS saying we were playing a kind of 4321 formation with ff and hooper behind Nuhiu. Now we have spent 10 mill on Rhodes who can't play as a lone striker we have fooked ourselves into a solid 442 to try get the best out of him. It's crazy what we have done.... I agree Charlie teams didn't really suss us out last season but the ones that did made us look mediocre and I can only imagine other teams will learn from that. A progressive team doesn't stand still which at the minute we look as if we have.
A player I would like is to get is Hector. He was at Reading and then chelsea I think paid 1mill for him. He is a big strong player who gets around the field and can play at CB or CDM. Would add power and height to us....

say what you want about being in 4th place last term Whistle at the end of the day a 30 million pound strike force on its own lost to a team worth 10 quid due to being bottless wankers like the playoff final before it !! and playing 4-4-feffing 2 at home going 1 up and then panicing like little puffs for the next 30 odd minutes of the game Smartass and we all sat back and watched with not much surprise infact it was like when grandad dies ... you are sad but its going to happen one day and it doesnt hit you that hard realy Whistle

cough peiowl Laugh

The pigs beat boring we can never win stoke bye the way ... we are in for a match bet youre life on it and when we have bottleless wankers like Rhodes fessi & bannan i wouldnt be betting on us !!!

Wouldn't be much of a forum if we all had exactly the same opinions on things Wednesday.

Seems like we have a good mix of Optimists, Pessimists and a few undecided's but at least we are civilized about it Thumb up Thumb up .

What we are missing though is the wise measured words and thoughts of MS on all this.

So c'mon DC/CC and the lads, starting August 5th lets not feck it up again this season.

Our U23s won 4-2 at Sunderland today.

Hirsty got a hat-trick.
