Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general
One one new rumour as the other one is what you call less a rumour and more of a type sheffield wednesday on google search and see what comes up with the name Doh anyway the first one is ollie burke from RB leipzig hes a winger so im sure we need at least 7,000 more before we realise that 1950s football died in the 90s Whistle but hey ho we need a winger with pace Doh and the other is Glenn whelan remember him ? well he now remembers us now we can afford to pay him wages and stuff Whistle it sounds a bit shit as he is 57 years old but he controls a game and grits his teeth where others just ponce around giving the ball away Doh id quite like him back actually even if it was just to play against the pigs twice he would be worth it Thumb up because at the moment there is only going to be one loser in those games and its the ones that bottle it Thumb down

Des Walker is the next on the Dream Team scene.

Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.

Good player, but like Imre said, not a Legend.

I have no problem with him being included, I think he was class and played enough games and for long enough with us to be included in this. The legends title gets thrown around all the time but I am not sure what a legend is nor how many we really have had, so including him is fine with me.

A legend for me who just brought something out of the crowd you knew with players like varadi banno lyons chapman zico that a few chants of there name and they would do something special like legends are supposed to Thumb up walker is not in lyons or pearson book hes not even near to mark smith who played 3 million games for the club scoring vital legend goals as well Whistle even shirtcliff beats walker for me as he could score at good times as well ... walker is way down the pecking list but hes obviously been choose by little boys who never saw the dark days Thumb down Dicannio coming up i feel Doh

Looks like we are stepping up the bid for oliver burke as a loan has been mentioned !! good stuff if we get him as we need more bodys in the middle of the park who might be able to attack the ball !

And therein lies the problem with classifying players as legends!! I for one would not class Varadi, Banno or Champan as legends, not because they weren't good players but that none of them made enough appearances for us, in fact none of them made over 150 appearances for us!!! Mark Bright comes into that category as well although he may have a better shout for that one goal in 1993!! For a player who didn't play a lot of games (300+ minimum) for us, then for them to be legends they have to be probably the best we ever saw in that position!! Thats how Roland Nilsson gets in for me but that rules out others such as Mark Bright.

Waddle falls into the category as probably the best players ever to play for SWFC in his given position but played less than 300 games. Same as Nilsson.

Who do we class as out and out legends that we have seen play then??

David Hirst
Nigel Worthington
Chris Waddle
John Sheridan
Kevin Pressman
Mark Smith
Mel Sterland
Carlton Palmer

I would include these for sure.

Terry Curran only played 140 odd games, but I would also include him because of his impact on the club as a whole.

Personally I can't be arsed with this legends stuff. As individuals we all have our own legends and different perspectives and no one will ever agree. For example, Brian Marwood is a legend for me but I doubt if many people will agree but I don't care Cool
