I can't bear watching any more of  the British press/media still 'feasting like ghouls' on this human tragedy - listened to the usual platitudes and 'milking' of an absolutely tragic bombing incident - deja vu and nothing changes in that respect with the press 'thriving on it' hour after hour after.... and then more of the same the following day - sickening TBF!!

Obviously I have only seen the tv coverage over here and online I use the BBC for news, but what else would you expect the media to report where this tragedy is concerned??

I'd say brief news coverage is adequate TBF and respect and dignified silence for the dead and all the affected/stunned families is generally appropriate but that that does not work in this country any more, not with the predominantly horriible press/media that we observe almost every day with sensationalised headlines and all kindsa shameless activities even on radio and tv debates these days - it's stereotyped and we go through the same platitudes and all sorts of same orchestrated stuff that we've observed on these kinda occasions - it never changes and many of us have seen through this façade where the press/media really do 'feast on human tragedies like this one' and never 'let it go' for days!! Plus roughly 15 years have passed by and we have no real solutions to these threats!! UK govts created the prob/threats after previous warnings from 100s of 1000s of protesters re the folly of attacking other sovereign countries unjustly and, as usual, innocent Brits (mostly kids in this case!!!) killed again by another barbaric act!!
PS: The motor car kills and injures far more people per week than any terrorism act would emulate in a decade - just placing this whole issue into perspective when it comes to the press/media 'feasting' on these tragedies!!!!!!

Very well presented viewpoint, 0762. I agree that our media love a good tragedy as it fills hundreds of hours of airtime/column inches. The Manchester bombing should rightly be the main news story over a number of nights, but not at the expense of other important stories. Even experienced reporters struggle to say the same thing over and over again just to fill in airtime.

And hibeejim21, don't rely too much on polls or experts for accurate information. They usually get it wrong as they have proved in the last few years. All the experts in the world got it wrong when they had us celebrating the New Millennium in 2000, instead of the correct year of 2001. They've not been much better since.

The last week of election activity coming up soon Jim and the cynic in me is watching for the Tories 'buying up' their support press front pages + media bias reporting in a major assault on Corbyn and a certain character assassination! I wish the Labour Party would return the compliment and 'turn the screw' on Theresa May who has been far from impressive!

I'm not sure they can do much more damage to him 0762. For two years it has been wall to wall Corbyn bashing and I think people have become a bit immune and rather bored with it.

I think its also had the added effect of making people pay more attention to corbyn, and listen more to him. While may has been hiding away from the electorate and looking increasingly shifty and unreliable.

And these days its the press that run the tories, not the other way round.

Just reported today during a bbc interview that Corbyn confirming he would open up talks with the SNP re the independence issue and poss opening up a route to a second referendum - contrary to what the Scottish Labour Party and Dugdale have been preaching and what he previously uttered! The plot thickens as the election clock counts down towards 8 June and I'll be voting for the best and most genuine option in Scotland and, more importantly, for Scotland - certainly the one with the least shame attached to it and not representative of any British govt interest/opposition if the truth be told - I'm voting SNP by a country mile and I hope a huge % of the Scottish electorate remove any doubts (there shouldn't be anyway!) and do likewise!!

Corbyn was way better than may tonight on the tv debate. He just comes over as a really sincere bloke, while may was car crash material again hiding behind brexit.

I'll likely vote SNP as usual, but my respect for corbyn has risen greatly during this campaign.

I couldn't disagree with that view TBH but my voting intention is really down to the best option for Scotland and one of my big criticisms of the Labour Party is Corbyn's tolerance of a real lightweight gremlin/SLP leader called Kezia Dugdale who has a history of criticising Corbyn and indeed should have 'fallen on her sword' long before now! Also the SNP manifesto announced today and it's a good presentation of future intentions with Scotland's interests paramount and I don't see anything of great substance coming from the unionist allied opposition who are far more obsessed with the independence issue and clearly trying to use to influence Scottish voters who wanna make more of a 'big deal' out of it than it should be - I call it 'singing from the same hymn sheet' and I hope the ploy 'backfires in their faces' - these people and their cheap, shameless tactics never change because they are desperate and scrambling to gain some kinda political foothold from a very weak position.
