2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window
Whilst we concern ourselves over our predicament, spare a thought for poor old Sunderland who have ,now, confirmed their inevitable slide into the Championship with the signing of Joleon Lescott. This news arrived to the faithful Mackems shortly after discovering that their 2nd best striker, Big Vic, will be out-of-action, injured, for 10 weeks.

Some clubs just NEVER learn... Doh

Wont be getting him then:

"Liverpool are in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon over their 24-year-old defensive midfielder William Carvalho, who is valued at £26m"

Snodgrass to Burnley.

Thought we were interested?

I'd like Patrick Van Arnholt from Sunderland. Apparently going to Palace for £10m I think.

I got the impression that Phillips gave him something of a torrid time last Saturday

We all know we need another goal-scoring striker...

Chris Wood has scored 20 for Leeds United and Brown Ideye is also banging them in regularly for Olympiacos.
Question is, did we let both of them go too soon?

Here we go, we have so far gone from "we are going to add 3 or 4 in the window" to maybe two (we still only have one) and now we are prepared to wait for the summer.

West Brom are prepared to wait until the summer if necessary to land their top transfer targets as they continue attempts to complete one more deal before next week’s deadline.

Granted no point in signing someone for the sake of it, but...........

At least the club will end the window with a reasonable profit, if we do not sign anyone else, so more profit for the shareholders and you can bet it will be forgotten by the time the summer window comes around.

Yeh, it does seem a bit flat now - 1 good signing and, as always, lots of links and rumours, but nothing else.
I'm still hopeful that we'll get a striker in, but I'm not holding my breath.
If that's it, it'll be an opportunity missed I think, of getting a very good finishing position (IMO 8th or 9th would be fantastic) because I really don't think we have enough in our present squad to maintain our current results.
Hopefully I'm wrong.

Seems to me all the pre-window hype of signing three or four top quality signings was all kidums to placate the fans and missing fans.

The same will undoubtedly happen in August and I agree with Salop, any profits and wage saving made this winter will be conveniently forgotten. It's the Baggie way.

Lack of any serious ambition.
