McManaman what went wrong?
#1
McManaman has completed a medical at Wednesday, on loan.

His only competitive football so far this season is a solitary appearance for Albion's Under-23 side in a 2-0 loss at Luton Town in the EFL Trophy in October.

Prior to his move to the Hawthorns, he scored 10 goals in 79 league appearances for Wigan and helped the Latics lift the 2013 FA Cup.

So having done so well, scoring 1 in 7 matches, what reason do you think he wasn't given more opportunities to show his worth?

Talented player but was never fit enough to play 90 minutes, didn't defend well enough (Pulis prefer defending first) and according to rumour, wasn't particularly professional with the basics like turning up for training on time etc.

It was unfortunate he didn't get more opportunities, because he was very dangerous with his direct play when he came off the bench. That said, he was always in and out of games when he started. Presumably Leko is a preferred option for the 'impact sub' role and I'm also told Leko is a great pro for a youngster.

I agree but this is what the BBC sport says - so again proves a point as to why believe the paper, St C?

My two penneth on McManaman was that I was pretty unimpressed to be honest. Having seen him play fairly recently in the U23's a couple of times he looked like he was smoking 20 fags a day with how out of breath he was.

He'll do well in the Championship but I really didn't rate him personally at Prem level, was a gamble that didn't pay off for what we paid for him.
