2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window

Hearing TP say that he wants to bring in players to go straight into the TEAM, not just squad players, does indicate that we'll be after players that are proven in a top league - this (to me) is quite a statement and indicates that we'll get better quality coming in.
Who knows who though? !

I hope Pulis and Williams' New Years Message rings true - but I can't help but be a little skeptical about the statement about bringing in only immediate first team selections ( http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/2016-1...91480.aspx )

On the whole this season I think our transfers so far have been good, despite most thinking we'd had a crap summer window.

I don't think anyone was expecting Nyom to be as good as he's been, Chadli although quiet recently had a great start and was a real coup for us, not bad for a Spurs castoff.

Also top of the list of course is Matty Phillips. I bet he's now worth more than the £5.5m we paid QPR for him, not that we'd want to sell him!

I'd be reasonably happy seeing the likes of Schlupp, McCarthy & Cleverley signed this window. I can't see us bringing in another big name until the Summer window, but I'd love to be wrong.

Covers numerous positions across midfield and is still prominent at Everton despite being labelled a cast off. In the starting 11 or on the bench for all but 2 of their games this season.

Everton will be spending silly money over the next few windows and Cleverley has to move on to free up space on their wage bill, simple as that.

Somerset Baggie is the most realistic despite saying it was a negative side - it will be players in January similar to Cleverley that we'll sign.

If anyone thinks all of a sudden under the new owners we're going to be signing players like Carvalho you may need to pinch yourself as you're dreaming.

We may as well get bids in for Modric, Bale, Iniesta and Alli while we're at it. Got just as much chance at signing those!

HRK, I completely agree with you that Cleverley is a definite upgrade on Gardner. My problem is that I don't think we should be looking for a replacement for Gardner but for Fletcher. Right now, Gardner is not close to a starting XI position and I think we need someone who will go straight into the first team and make a substantial impact. I just think that we could do better than Cleverley

No one predicting on 'Have a guess' - after all that is what you are doing here. Have a go.

Need replacements for Fletcher - Olson - Left back - and 1 new striker/cover for Morrison.

With a scoring record this season 1 in 4.5 (All comps), add that to the fact that since 2011 has been signed by Juventus, Sampdoria, Bologna, Altlanta & Cittadella.

Is he really a £15 million striker and would we really want him?
