Jeff Schlupp wants to leave City in January and join West Brom.

That's according to West Midlands-based Express and Star, who say the winger is frustrated with his lack of opportunities at City.

The Baggies bid four times for Schlupp during the summer, with a highest offer of £12million, in a saga that saw the Ghanaian left out of the side for the first game of the season at Hull.

City were unwilling to let any more senior players depart and eventually Schlupp was convinced to stay.

Schlupp has made just two starts across the Premier League and Champions League this season, but Tony Pulis took that as indication that City would not be willing to sell.

The Baggies boss said earlier this month: "He played (in the Champions League) so I don’t see him being sold if he is in the team."

There's got to come a time soon when clubs just won't loan to us, given recent track record of (non-)use of loanees. Mind you, Chelsea are reclaiming Ake from Bournemouth because he''s hasn't been playing so it's not just us. I suppose if a manager really comes to think that a player isn't good enough, it would be daft to play him. Galloway's still playing for England u-21s, though.

We have had a few decent loans over the last few years; Lukaku, Richardson, Ben Thingy (i think he came from Wigan), 'Norman" Wisdom (Oh no, not him) and I'm sure there must have been one or two more and I think we signed one or two of them permanently. I don't know how much chance you have to do, effectively, "due diligence" before borrowing these blokes but i should think we grabbed anyone in our summer transfer catastrophe. Last season Gnabry looked fair but only got one chance. The little fella from Spurs didn't look up to much to me. This summer's Galloway, well......I only played at Birmingham Works level (Champs Div 1 about 1976, no applause required) but his defending is naive. I'll give him one basic, "Don't get on the touch-line side of your man!" Nyom's a loan isn't he. He's OK. I know it probably doesn't look too good on us shipping players back early but, you can't keep giving games to other club's players if they're not up to it. No controversy intended, vicar, just felting like chatting a bit. "Well, what a time to do it" I hear you think. Smile

You get MY applause, Bomber! I played same level (Lucas's), same time, and it was a pretty good standard. Did you play against Derek Kevan (Ansells)? I did - smashing bloke, as well.

I never played against Kev or at Ansells, talkSAFT and I envy you for having done so. Weren't the leagues regionalised? Either way the Works was good standard, tough football and there used to be some great grounds. Sad to see so many have gone.

Don't want you to think I was a superstar, tS. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, when I won my medal. I was playing in a Sunday league side with my cousin, who had played for Dudley Town at some point. He was playing, as well, for Belgrave, a factory in Blackheath, and he asked if I'd like to train with them. I did and about three quarters of the way through the season they asked if I go with them as a sub. After going with them a couple of times, I was eventually brought on to perform and kept a place to the end of the season. The last match of the season was against Tubes, Aston somewhere over on the Chester Road, touch-line full of Tubes supporters, and Belgrave had to win or Tubes would have been Champs. Belgrave had lost to Tubes earlier in the season and we were one down at half-time. Then, and I'm sure you've had the same thing happen, this tall, young inside forward, Dave ??? literally grabbed the match by the scruff of it's kneck, ran it, scored all the goals and we ran out 4-1 winners. It often comes back to me. I believe he had played semi-pro for someone but I never knew his surname nor the surnames of most of the others in the team! I had played a lot in lower level Birmingham Works previously but was certainly on (or maybe beyond!) the limits of my capability in that team. Sadly, Belgrave, having sold it's own ground for redevelopment,could not play in the Works Premier Division and I broke my leg at Marsh and Baxters, Brierley Hill ground early next season. So my time at the "top" was short but sweet.

It was a great League, Bomber. All the big WM Businesses had at least 1 team in the Works League. (Ansells, M&B, Lucas, Wilmot, IMI, Post Office, Reynolds, etc etc) and looked after their Workforce, with great facilities. I dare say most of the grounds are now Council Estates, but great memories. Some of the players were at least Midland Com standard. I seem to remember that The Tank had an Ansells Pub after he left the game, and that's why he was playing for Ansells.

That's right, talkSAFT. I played at M&Bs and IMI. Over this side of Town we had TI (Tube Investments) which had three great grounds, just in the Oldbury area, Chance & Hunts, which became an Albion satellite social club (Dog Kennel Lane) when Albion had two or three of those and there were others, all gone to housing, now. As you say about the Midland Com players, I played with and against ex-players from West Midlands League teams, Dudley, Stourbridge, Lye Town etc. Our captain at GEC/AEI, Blackeath, when I was playing there, had played for Brierley Hill Athletic for some time, a club that's now gone but which had a quite successful FA Cup for a non-league club around 1960, I seem to recall. Ah, all my yesterdays!

I heard Kev was running a pub and playing for Ansells back when I was playing, I think. As I said I envy you. The only time I played at Ansells was to bowl there. I don't think The Tank played!
