FIFA World Cup qualifier: Engerland v Scotland

strachan should have played that kind of attacking team against lithuania when we really needed the win. Frustrating night because we played not bad at all middle to front and caused england problems. 3 nil was very, very harsh.

The back 4 was just horrendous though. You aren't going to qualify for major tournaments with the likes of ,hanley who is barely a footballer, berra and wallace were totally out their depth. But not much strachan could really do about that.

We gave it a go i guess. I think the wee man will step aside after this campaign.

cahill and stones are pish by the way, their attempts to play it out from the back were like something you would see in the schoolyard. England will get skelped when they come up against some real quality.

Any manager who has the goalscoring talent of Jordan Rhodes available and doesn't even pick him for the squad deserves to get sacked.

Strachan out!

The back four has always been the Achilles heel under Strachan but it's no about that game it's the previiis games and Strachans ego that has us were we are

I think there were some signs of improvement last night, contrary to all the doom n gloom. IMO just let Strachan get on with it TBF and let him decide to leave when he sees no further progress with him in charge. Start establishing young guys like Ollie Burke, Tierney and other up n coming young players. I don't think we're that far off being a reasonable international side but some of the weaker positions/players are absolutely killing us! I'd add our current captain, Darren Fletch to the 'criticism list' - an enigma and I've hardly ever seen the guy have a really good match for Scotland down the years even before his illness came to the fore. He did well with Man U but hardly ever with the Scotland team - I'm not a fan!! As said previously, Hanley is a nightmare defender and has been a key factor in Scotland being a failed team so early in our world cup campaign but in a group that is not exactly anything close to being classed as a 'group of death'. There were key moments in last night's match that just confirmed we don't currently have certain players with a quality, guile and coolness that is required at this level. For example, Forrest 'bottled it' at the end of a top class interchanging move on England's right side to fail miserably in finishing it off with a goal that would've been raved about and would've deservedly put Scotland 'back in the frame'. The same goes for Griffiths; Snodgrass couldn't finish off another terrific fast-flowing move through England's static defence and as for Hanley's free 'upward' header, 4 yards in front of England's goal, that was a disgrace esp coming from a professional footballer! Thumb down We're not just failing at this level - it's noticeable that we're not exactly 'lighting the heather' at all levels of Scotland age groups either and I think that's as big an indicator of where we're currently at and we could easily slate all these other Scotland coaches as well but if we don't have the requisite decent players to make up a 'full eleven' Scotland team, then we're always gonna be second best or even worse TBF!

English folk i spoke to today felt scotland played quite well, just lacked that wee bit of quality and composure at key moments.

You really should've scored at the start of the 2nd half when you had 2 glorious chances but spurned them both.
Overall not a great game by either team and surely questions now have to be asked about how long Strachan has left in the job, it mystifies me how he doesn't put the like of Jordan Rhodes or Charlie Adams in the squad when you have a lack of quality players to pick from.
For England another 3 points and we march onto qualification in Russia where we will no doubt get through the group phase and then get knocked out by some opposition we were beating 8-0 twenty years agai.

Aye! I watched a couple of African WC group matches on tv and must say the technical and physical attributes in the games were damn good and certainly comparable, if not better, than anything currently on offer from Scotland or England!

Scottish and English fa both cited for disciplinary action by FIFA.

Ludicrous.

Gordon Strachan's job still safe after his 'debriefing' with SFA officials! Just get on with it and see where it takes us and the main hope being a significant improvement!

If he can get a win in the next game, then lets take it from there. My confidence in the wee fella has been dented a bit of late though.
