If he signed a new contract it would indicate that he intended to rebuild his career with us. I'd respect that and we all know a fit and focused Berahino is a good thing.

Maybe the anger was with JP and now he has gone there is scope to move on?

Until he signs a contract I am not going to believe this is possible.

He is an interesting one, a CB that can also play either side as a fullback, undoubtedly better than the likes of J.O., maybe closer to Evans, good track record, played (or sat on the bench Wink) at the highest level for most of his career.

However he is 30 in April, a youngster compared to some in the squad, but if we want to build for the future is he to old? His value has continued to drop on most of the stats since his transfer when he was 21, then at 8-9 million, the "usual" sites put him currently at under 6 million. Predominately right footed, with little attacking pedigree, a total of 12 goals in 244 games, ok he is a defender and attacking stats are similar to Evans (a touch better actually).

So IMO an improvement on some of our defenders, how much of an improvement would remain to be seen. He would probably need a couple of months to get up to match fitness, as he has not been doing anything. At 29 he should be at the top end of his game, yet he is a free agent, with no-one else reportedly showing any interest, other than, some speculation his old boss, now at Chealski is looking (just paper talk I am sure).

So who knows could be an amazing signing should it happen or could be a big flop. He is on a free so not to much of risk, then of course the danger of sign him on a short contract he proves to be good and away he goes to another club, poor us, or you sign on a long contract and he proves to be a flop, poor us.
