A 70 year old woman candidate brags about being able to shove her tongue down men's throats while grabbing their balls. She wants to keep out Mexicans, build a wall, calling them "rapists," "bad hombres." She does a tasteless imitation of a man with a disability. Then she publicly attacks the family of a fallen US soldier (who happens to have been a Moslem).

Would she even be in the running?

Of course not. So, why is Trump?

It shouldn't be acceptable from any candidate but I don't believe its because he is a man that he is getting away with it. Thurny is closer with the answer in my opinion, Trump does not need money from lobbyists, institutions or even the Republican party themselves, he can finance this on his own, so he is getting no outside pressure as such to stand down with all these things surrounding him. In the past when revelations like this have appeared with either party the candidate has been forced to stand down by either the party itself, the leadership or the financial backers, well in this case Trump is not beholden to any of them and despite the majority of the Republican hierarchy not wanting him as their candidate there is essentially nothing they can do about it!! He won the nomination fair and square, so unless they want to completely rewrite their laws and rules they are stuck with him.

Also remember, most candidates want to have a job in Government after an election or after they are forced out of a race, and so they tow the party line, Trump doesn't need a job guarantee from anyone, he is his own man and therefore cannot be forced to do anything he doesn't want. He is a trashy human being and he is not fit to hold the office imo, but he has so far done everything with regards to being the Republican nomination the correct way and simply got the most votes. He has so far done nothing that is illegal or that he has been found guilty of, so there is no legal precedence to get him on either, therefore the election laws and system over here cannot stop him from standing irrespective of how immoral or bigoted or racist etc you or I consider him to be, you just have to hope that enough people dislike Hillary a little less and therefore don't vote for him, but I am not sure that is the case and it potentially could be a close race in the end!!

Trump isn't as wealthy as he makes out. He's a flim flam man, pays no federal tax and steals from charity. One of his top aides needed to resign after being caught bringing money in from Russia for Trumps campaign.

When Charlie Sheen is calling someone cheap & tacky I think that just about says it all.

The Sanders supporters don't help by spitting dummies out and threatening to Vote Trump over Clinton Doh

The Sanders supporters are their own worst enemies!!! If they want to get away from the establishment and see political reform as they claim, then sure Donald is definitely outside that and has even promised some of those things but he will certainly not change the system in the way they want it changed!!! They have to do that from within the Democratic party and that begins with having a Democratic president, not a Republican one!!! Having said that, for a lot of Democrats in political positions, they also do not want to see the changes Sanders wants as it will severely restrict them from doing things the way they do now!! The election isn't rigged but it is certainly skewed towards certain people!!

That might work in Britain, but over here the government ain't looking after you in your old age at all!!!! This is the land of opportunity and hope, the place where the average working man can get ahead and change his status if he works hard and tries his very best, take that away from the American psyche and the whole place may well just fall apart!!!!!

It's more of a dig at this shithole Chaz. You can tell who works for a living because they smoke roll ups whilst the spongers can still afford fags at nine quid a packet (and vodka to go).

And then when you get to retire, if you've had the cheek to pay into a pension plan, you get less than the great unwashed as a pension. If you have a private pension, however small, it means you are liable for full taxation.

Ask Stateside how f'ucking skewed this country is Angry There's no wonder they are f'ucking queing up at Calais Angry

My advice, if you can't afford to pay into a pension pot that will pay at least 50K per year then don't bother. Spend it now whilst you can enjoy it Laugh the NHS will do f'uck all for you in your retirement Cool

You're probably right in saying that he's still there because he isn't beholding to any big backers. But why do so many people support him? That's what bothers me. There's the cult leader effect plus like Hitler he offers easy solutions to complex problems. Blame the Jews (Hitler) or in Trump's case the Mexicans and all Moslems. Give the rich big tax breaks and they'll be sure to pass it down to the average guy.

As for him not having done anything illegal 11 women say otherwise. Not proven in a courtroom yet but I know who I believe.

I'm not saying Hillary is the perfect candidate but at the side of Trump......

Oh, I don't know anymore. It is still more possible to achieve something in America than Britian. The American dream is fast becoming just that though, a dream. Some would even argue it was merely an illusion to begin with, only pertaining to a certain demographic. Where you grew up and went to school matters greatly. And many Schools still suffer segregation laws.

There's no bottom rung to get on the ladder in either Country. The UK has become a great template for oppressive business practises

Regarding the NHS. It'll be fully disassembled & privatised soon. Another broken, deliberately defunded system with deliberately backwards policies and middle management self-serving...

Why are so many people supporting him?? Thats the big question. I think firstly a lot of republicans will vote for whoever gets put up (as will a lot of democrats on the other side), also the Hillary factor means many moderate republicans simply will not vote for her no matter what!! As you say he is saying all the right things to appeal to the type of supporter we typically see at his rallies.

As I said he hasn't been found guilty of anything yet, so no legal reason for him not to stand. Ironically, while most will agree this is probably the 2 worst candidates an American election has ever seen, either side could have won this in a landslide if just one of them had put up a half decent candidate!!! Just about any other Republican could beat Hillary, and any decent Democrat would have been able to wipe the floor with trump!!

I'd be willing to give Hillary a chance. She just might surround herself with a capable bunch of advisors and cabinet members. I agree that a decent Democrat (Sanders, e.g) would have wiped the floor with Trump but of the aspirants for the Republicans, I could only see Kasich as someone who would have given her a ride for her money. The rest were cattle fodder.
