Maybe I've been watching too much CNN, but I think Trump is going down to a devastating (for him) defeat, dragging a lot of Senators with him. The Senate will go back to the Dems, even the House could. Trump appeals to a rump of white, uneducated, mostly males. Beyond that base, he has no appeal. He's lost the women's vote and they tend to vote in larger proportion than men. His behavior disgusts most people and the policies that he lays out are unacceptable to most.

But, what I've found especially perplexing about this whole business is not so much Trump. History is littered with demagogues like him. But why FFS do all these people support him? My only explanation is that he has the appeal and power over his supporters of a cult leader. A latter day Jim Jones.

I just hope the Dems don't get too complacent and that they get their vote out, but barring that, I see Hillary a clear winner.

Trump is saying exactly what his core base wants to hear, repeal Roe v Wade, clamp down on immigration, no messing with the 2nd Amendment, very conservative judges on the Supreme Court, kill ISIS, etc etc, so he is bound to get the votes of most hardcore republicans irrespective of what he says or does over and beyond these core beliefs. You have to remember that there are millions of Americans who will vote Republican (or Democrat) no matter who they put up as their candidate.

He also has one other huge thing going for him - Hillary!! Of all the candidates the Democrats could put up she is the one that is the most hated by even your average Republican, and a lot of the independents as well, she is the reason that even reasonably minded Republicans will vote for Trump even if they cannot stand him because their hate for her "trumps" everything else!!! I know a bunch of very educated and reasonable people who will vote for Trump, and most of that decision is based on them traditionally being Republicans and that there is no way on earth they could vote for Hillary!!

The upshot of all this is another Clinton in the White House, not a great thing imo and a Republican party in disarray (I'm ok with this one through)!!! Problem is the Democrats could literally have no viable rival at the next election and a lack of competition is not good in Government but then 4 years is a long time in American politics.

The only truthful thing said thus far, has been by Trump. Unintentionally of course as he believes this pertains to him.

The election is rigged. You get what you get, and you'll like it. Same the world over with varying illusions of a democratic process.

Come on SS. You're not falling for all this rigged election garbage are you? He's only spouting that carp to rile up his sheep and to prepare the ground for his defeat. Some election fraud undoubtedly but not of the scale he's portraying it.

Oh, I don't mean anything so basic as Voter fraud, which has been proven to be insignificant anyway.

I meant that from the start there was never going to be a candidate that truly represented the majority of America making it to the final Ballot. It's corporate business class all the way, forever...
