Preston North End captain Tom Clarke has signed a new two-year deal at Deepdale.

The skipper has committed his future to the club, signing a new contract which will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2020.

The 30-year-old made his return from injury in November after seven months out, and became a key player in defence, making 20 appearances in all competitions as the club finished seventh in the Championship.

Clarke also contributed at the other end of the pitch, scoring two crucial goals in the wins away at Burton Albion and Cardiff City in December.

Speaking of extending his stay at Deepdale, after joining the club in 2013, Tom said: "I'm over the moon to get it done, now I can focus on a good pre-season, a pre-season that I didn't have last season with this manager.

"Since I first joined the club we have improved every season and it's exciting to see what the future holds. Next season is going to be another tough season but it's a season that we will be ready for."

A number of changes have been made to the draft fixture lists announced last week.

As confirmed on Thursday, the Stoke City fixture on Saturday 18th August will now kick-off at 5.30pm for live SKY Sports coverage and this is one of three changes currently made to the schedule.

The next change sees our home game against Norwich City pushed back 24 hours from Tuesday 12th February to Wednesday 13th, due to the Canaries’ clash with Ipswich Town being moved to the previous Sunday.

This change could mean that either one of the Brentford or Middlesbrough home games in October/November could revert back to a Tuesday to keep the balance of midweek fixture days, but this is still to be confirmed at this stage. The club expect to hear from the EFL in the next few days whether one of these is changed.
Our local derby away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 9th March is also moving kick-off time and this will now have a 12 noon start time. This decision has been made on the advice of Lancashire Police after incidents at previous games between the sides at Ewood Park.

All supporters are advised that when attending matches, either home or away, you are representing the club and the reputation of its fans, and any behaviour outside of the expected can affect all supporters and also the team’s preparations.

Further changes could be announced, with ongoing discussions with clubs and local police forces, so please check the website for further updates.
