The Cloggies and The Fosdyke Saga were some of the best strip cartoons ever. His humour and ability to make fun of everyday life in his single panel 'toons were also hard to beat and a joy every time they appeared.

A few simple lines drew every character you ever met down the pub, at work, at the match, on the bus or saw ranting on the tellybox.

Younger readers might not remember but the High Jump event was radically changed with the transition from the Western Roll/Straddle to the Fosbury Flop.
