Leicester vs WBA - Match Thread

Interestingly, today's win leaves us in almost exactly the same position as this time last year: 13 points from 10 games, 0 GD, having scored three more goals but also conceded three more goals. Obviously under Clarke, this was where it all started to slide towards mediocrity, with two draws in the next two games closely followed by four defeats on the trot (two of which were against teams in the relegation zone). For Irvine, the upcoming games are eerily similar, with matches against big teams (including the dreaded return to Stamford Bridge), form teams and sides who are going to be in the mix, plus the Villa derby.

It's going to be a testing time, but on paper, two wins and a couple of draws between now and Christmas would probably be enough to keep us ticking over.

From what I saw on the stream, we were lucky to survive the last 20 mins. Very lucky three points IMO.... As we couldn't hold onto the ball and creativity was crap.

Hey ho...  10th but playing poor footy.

Also, to counter some of the negativity on here, I'd remind everyone that every other team which has gone to Leicester this season has played flair football, dominated possession, had loads of chances, scored goals, generally lorded it over the Foxes... and then they've all come away with either one point or nothing because Leicester have done them on the break. Every single one.

We went there with a gameplan, and it worked. Even if Cambiasso hadn't done us a favour, we'd have carried on plugging away and may well have scored one for ourselves instead; it just turned out we didn't need to. Not especially pretty to watch, not a masterclass in Premier League football, but effective nonetheless.

It would be nice to think that Some of the new players will soon find their confidence and form.

We should get better - if they click and AI plays them

I'd say it WAS a masterclass in PL football - winning when not firing on many cylinders.....how Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea does THAT sound?!!  Cool

Exactly drewks that's how to go away to a tough place and come away with 3 points, and for a lot of defending, how many saves did Fozzie have to pull off? Thumb up Thumb up

This strikes me. Newcastle have won 4 games on the bounce - and we're above them. Hull and Stoke are looking pretty decent, strong teams - and we're above them. 4 teams below us are playing each other tomorrow and Monday - and only one, at most, can move above us.
We're nowhere near the kind of football or performances any of us wants to see, but we're hanging in there surprisingly well. That makes it a lot easier to move up a gear.
Here's hoping.

I think playing poorly and getting 3 points is great if you've
had an off day and have better performances in your locker.

However, if it's the norm, you're not going to get lucky every
week... And that's what worries me.

Personally I didn't think we looked like we were going to score
until they gave us the gift. Sess was ineffective and none of our
midfield ever run beyond the strikers away from home. Essentially
we were reliant on Saido coming up with something on his own.

We have a good squad and player for player are much superior
to Leicester IMO. Ask yourself how many of their side would get
in our XI? I'd suggest very few.

Yet this had 0-0 written all over it. Both teams were poor and
neither looked like they had the quality to score. IMO, with the
players we have, we are capable of winning these type of matches
without having to rely on luck.
