......what was I saying about a good advert for the Edinburgh Derby  Doh  ..........but the typical dour fair that is often the case. Game needed a goal.

Funnily enough the pitch ( width and quality) at Easter Road may suit Hearts. Dodgy

Dreadful game, appalling playing surface, draw was probably about right in a tight, nervy game. I thought we got the tactics right the day and we more than matched them all over the park. Bartley in particular was taking no shite.

Marciano had one great stop to make, but if grant holt was that wee bit younger/sharper i think we could have have sneaked it. He really put in a shift and worked the hertz defence.

Hertz will still be favourites for the replay though,i think they have brought in some good players.

Should be a pen kick to the next round Jim for the replay winners.

Incredible not one away draw since they died.

Seven words to begin this thread - What an awful pitch to play on!!!! Thumb down And Cathro professes he wants his team to play footie? Well it aint gonna happen on that tattie patch! I already studied the condition of two sports pitches in good condition at the weekend: one at Annfield and one at the Stade de France. Tynecastle comes woefully far short in that respect and who's supposed to be maintaining it!? Thumb down Lenny spot on with his tactics and the view that this awful pitch was not conducive to playing controlled footie - keep it physical and tight!! Marvin imperious in his mid role, esp in these shit conditions, and he does occasionally remind me of Pat Stanton in his prime with certain movements that he makes but Pat was an 'all rounder', the main difference. Darren Mac also a 'rock' in our defence - give that man a Scotland cap Gordon! And well done Lenny in bringing back Rocky! Thumb up He did OK and his presence was good for our defence!! As for the ref, Gollum, IMO he was lenient but kept the game flowing. One 'bone of contention' was that cynical, dangerous Goncalves foul on David Gray in the last mins of the game - a rear tackle/foul and an easy straight red card TBF and I think Marvin did him a favour by pulling him aside for him to eventually pick up a lenient yellow card. He was a fairly amiable lad during the match and that foul just looked totally 'out of character' but what damage has it done to our captain? Also did you see the fake act by their Greek defender, Tzirios(?). I watched a Sky video replay of that incident and what a f###### joker - no contact on his face whatsoever and I wish a good, vigilant referee would quickly deal with this kinda 'fake act' and rebuke the b####### in no uncertain terms and tell him to get on with the game!!! Even getting back on his feet was an Oscar winning performance - still holding his untouched face!!!! Cool So another replay match beckons and it looks like the Hibs legions will be packing ER for this one - a full house guaranteed and how financially convenient that is for both clubs! Lastly there have been two SC ties of SPL v Championship teams and the difference is not greatly identifiable again with Morton being fairly unlucky not to take Rangers at least to a replay if not beating them fair and square in a 'very open' match!

Had to be a case of 'horses for courses' the day 0762 and play big holt up front. No way can you play flowing football on that pitch. I thought he did very well. As did lewis who had a really good game keeping walker quiet.

Thought gollum tried to keep 'a lid on the game' so to speak. But he let djoum away with murder and as you say could and probably should have shown a red for the challenge on gray at the end.

Over the piece pretty happy though,i never thought at any stage they were better than us.

They have had 4 SC games away from home since 2012. And as 0762 said, morton really should have got a replay today. They are appalling at the back.

Wouldnae be shiteing it from them in the semi's anyway.

I'm sure they are aware of the pitch and will be looking into ways to rectify it. All cathro can do is go with what he is given to work with on and off the park. Reading the fans forums they are aware and understand that it may be holding back their side. That is why I wonder if the extra width and condition of ER will benefit both sides .

However if things fall for you then the pitch is soon forgotten and today nothing fell for the strikers.....if Gonclaves had put the early chance in we would have seen a totally different game. It is the same pitch they put 4 past sevco the other week and they looked good on the highlights considering the conditions. As Fred said Rocky made a couple of good saves but the Hearts forward will be ruing his miss in the second half where it looked easier to score. We had a couple of half chances where we just needed the rub of the green. ( not much of that on that pitch!).

As you said 0762 Lenny got the tactics right as he knew it would be a midfield battle partly caused by the state of the playing surface. I think we will see a much better game at ER and it will be down to who gets the luck on the night. McGregor and Bartley wre immense again for us.

'mon hibs

No mention of Mcgregors cynical assault on Cowie 0762 or is that allowed?? Or have you not brought it up because he was correctly booked for it, or is it just another show of your blinkered atttitude, for once Gollum had a good game and tried to let the game flow.

For Collum he did have a good game and tried to keep his cards in his pocket. All players and teams get the benefit of the doubt at times with regard to red and yellow cards........last week against Ayr I thought Keatings was fortunate to stay on after his run to deliberately bring their breaking midfielder down in a dangerous fashion.
