I've got no problems with what he has come out and said, if he keeps banging in the goals this season and we receive a big fee for him then what is the problem, i think people are deluding themselves somewhat if they expect him to commit to us. He's got big ambitions and will never be able to fill them here (we can't even take the league cup seriously!)

More reassuring when he says he doesn't necessarily want to leave West Brom this year or maybe next year which would be very wise of Saido. He would be lost to the wilderness of the big boys if he left too quickly. Good article in the Daily Mail

Not being funny here, but how many of his goals does he create him self? most are tap ins or through ball 1V1.

As happy as I am that we have him and he is notching for us, has he really done enough to earn the hype.

I don't see it myself and would happily let him be sold in January, and give out 15million pound striker a go!

Watching him against Newcastle yesterday, his touch looked off, he tried to do too much at times, when he could just play the simple ball.

I don't get to every game or anything, so people will have a better appreciation of him than me.

Definitely think the hype will go to his head!!

Saido is a good all round player. Great striker of the ball with both feet, good touch,
strong, holds the ball up, passes well, good movement and reasonably quick.

However he isn't good enough to be playing for a Chelsea, City, United or Arsenal yet.

There's no doubt they'll already be sniffing around, because these sides don't hesitate
to spend millions on players who aren't going to be first choice.

They've got millions of pounds warming the bench already. Some are a lot more
developed that Saido is.

Look at Mo Salah - he was tearing sides apart in the Champions League week in and
week out last year, now the guy can't even make Chelsea' bench.

Joel Campbell was a star at the world cup and top performer in the Champions
League last year, this year, he's barely getting a look in at Arsenal.

We know exactly how Scott Sinclair's career has tailed off...

I've got no problem with him wanting to better himself, but if he moves too early, it's
easy to find yourself not playing any football at all. If he's got his head screwed on,
he should stick around at least until the end of next season.

Chairman clarifies Berahino stance

CHAIRMAN Jeremy Peace today assures Albion supporters that the club has no plans to sell its rising England star Saido Berahino.

The 21-year-old Academy graduate forward is the talk of the Premier League after becoming the top-scoring Englishman and winning a first call to Roy Hodgson’s senior squad.

It has triggered intense speculation about the striker’s future with Berahino facing a deluge of questions about his ambitions.

But Albion have nurtured Berahino since he first arrived at the club as an 11-year-old and the Chairman today stresses that he does not see the striker’s immediate future being played out anywhere else but at The Hawthorns.

He also confirms that talks have recently begun about Berahino, who is contracted for another three years at Albion, extending his current deal commitment.

The Chairman says: “I wish to assure our supporters that Saido Berahino will not be going anywhere in January or, I hope, next summer. It is not in our minds at all to trade a footballer the club has worked so diligently to develop.

“He is contracted to play for West Bromwich Albion until at least the summer of 2017 and we are happy to sit down with him and discuss extending that commitment on terms which recognise his continuing improvement as a footballer and his growing importance to our own plans.

“We have begun that process by opening preliminary talks with Saido’s representatives.

“We are delighted that this development has now taken him all the way to the senior England squad. This reflects proudly on our club and the efforts of all the staff who have played such a key role in Saido’s progress since he arrived here as an 11-year-old.

“However, it seems to have also generated unwarranted and excitable speculation about his future - which I wish to stress remains very firmly aligned to this football club.”

That's the way JP tie him to a longer contract and you will get more in the summer Whistle

Exactly, Saido gets £40,000 a week and we can then get more money for him IF a bid comes in.
It's sad that the likes of Bomber Brown don't exist in football anymore but who can blame a young lad for wanting to play for a big club and push himself at the highest level ?
Every player has his price and if we get silly money for Saido then I wish him well and hope his sale funds 2-3 quality new players. But let's not get too down its just lazy paper talk at the moment !!!!!

Really interesting article about Berahino from the perspective of the Academy managers: http://www.wba.co.uk/news/article/berahi...84894.aspx

The most intriguing section offers a different point of view on Saido's well-publicised troubled patch last season:

"It's ironic now when we read what Alan (Irvine) says about Saido being the last player off the pitch because he was no different when he was 11 or 12. I would be wanting to go home and he would be wanting to practice and I would have to say 'Saido, we’ve got to go now, it's getting late'.

"During last season it was quite difficult for Saido because there were things me and him were talking about and he was saying 'Mark, I don't want people to know'.

"He was doing extra sessions and I was quite disappointed in the way he was being portrayed. He had made mistakes and had been a little bit naive. But he also came up on a number of occasions and did extra sessions on our academy site without anybody knowing. He didn’t want anybody to know he was doing extra work with some of the younger players, which was brilliant for us. This was all during the time he was being reported on but he asked me at the time not to say anything.

"I said I wouldn't but I think now is probably the time to make people aware."
"I would rather spend a holiday in Tuscany than in the Black Country, but if I were compelled to choose between living in West Bromwich or Florence, I should make straight for West Bromwich." - J.B. Priestley

Sleeping Woy bringing on Lambert who will be retired by the European Championships when Saido is on the bench ready and waiting. What is the point in calling him up?

Totally agree. Why put on lambert who has played no games for Liverpool really, instead of the top scoring Englishman?!?!?

And also not putting foster in goal. On a plus side though no chance of injuries!
