Charlton Athletic have made their eighth signing of the transfer window after agreeing a permanent deal for Harrogate Town full-back Kayne Ramsay.

Ramsay, 23, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at The Valley after 17 months at the Envirovent Stadium.

A Chelsea academy graduate, right-back Ramsay made two Premier League appearances for Southampton, with the last one coming in February 2021.

He joined Harrogate from the Saints in August 2022, playing 61 times in total.

"We're really pleased to bring Kayne to the club," Charlton technical director Andy Scott said.

"He's got really good physical attributes - he's a strong, quick, athletic player who is an excellent one-v-one defender. He's an exciting talent, who has played in the Premier League before and has the potential to grow with the club."

Charlton Athletic academy graduate Daniel Kanu has signed a contract extension with the club until 2027.

The 19-year-old striker has scored four goals in 20 games for the League One club this season.

His extension follows the appointment of Nathan Jones as the new Addicks manager on Sunday.

"It's a dream come true and I'm really excited for the future," Kanu said. "I've been at this club since under-11s so it's been a really long journey."

He added: "I signed my first professional contract two years ago - around this time actually - and I'm just grateful to the academy and everyone else that's been part of my journey to get me to where I am today."

Kanu spent two months on loan at Southend United from October to December and scored four goals on his home debut, a 5-0 win against Solihull Moors.

He made his senior debut for the Sierra Leone national team in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat against Egypt.

He then returned to join the Addicks' first team, who are currently 19th in League One, just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Charlton have signed experienced striker Connor Wickham on a short-term deal.

The 30-year-old, once of Ipswich, Sunderland and Crystal Palace, has signed until the end of April.

The former England youth international has made 120 Premier League and a further 113 Championship appearances.

"The experience, physicality and quality he has makes him a really good signing," Addicks boss Nathan Jones told the club website.

"We're pleased to have him in and it'll be interesting to see how much we can get out of him."

Wickham, who has trained with the League One side for the past fortnight, said: "It's a good opportunity for me to work with a good group of lads and a good manager for the last part of the season, so it's something I'm looking forward to.

"Results lately have picked up and it's going to be a big push until the end of the season."

Since leaving Palace in the summer of 2021, Wickham has had spells with Preston, MK Dons, Forest Green Rovers and most recently Cardiff.

Charlton Athletic captain George Dobson is poised to complete a move to Hungarian club Fehérvár.

The club "made a number of contract offers" to Dobson this season but confirmed he had signed a pre-contract agreement with Fehérvár.

Dobson played 43 games for the Addicks in League One this season, more than any other player, as the club finished 16th in the table.

Fehérvár announced in February Dobson would complete his move on 1 July., external

Elsewhere, Tyreece Campbell has agreed a new deal with the south London club.

Richard Chin, Michael Hector, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Jack Payne, Terell Thomas, Lewis Ward, Connor Wickham and Kazenga LuaLua are also leaving Charlton, having not been offered new deals.

The club is in discussions with Thierry Small over a new long-term contract, despite having the option of triggering a one-year extension.

Loan signings Tyreeq Bakinson, Panutche Camará, Lewis Fiorini, Freddie Ladapo and Louie Watson, who made 21 league appearances this season after joining from Luton Town, are set to return to their parent clubs this summer.

Charlton Athletic have triggered a one-year extension clause to keep Thierry Small at the League One club until 2025.

Addicks technical director Andy Scott said the club had made the 19-year-old a "long-term" contract offer.

Small moved to The Valley in February and scored on his debut against Bolton Wanderers.

The left-back made a total of 14 appearances after joining from Southampton.

Charlton finished the season 16th in the table, nine points clear of relegation, with Nathan Jones replacing Michael Appleton as boss in February.

"We've made him a long-term contract offer, as we feel he has a lot of ability and potential."

Charlton Athletic have signed goalkeeper Will Mannion from Cambridge United on a three-year deal.

The 26-year-old, whose contract with the U's expires this month, is the Addicks' first signing under boss Nathan Jones.

Charlton have the option of extending Mannions's contract by a further year.

Mannion made 18 appearances for Cambridge last season as they finished 18th in League One.

"That was made clear when I spoke to the gaffer, and that's something that drew me to the club, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can do this season."

Mannion made 41 appearances in total for the U's after joining the club in 2021.

He has previously played for AFC Wimbledon, Hull City and Pafos, in Cyprus, and had loan spells at Plymouth Argyle, Aldershot Town, Kidderminster Harriers and Havant and Waterlooville.

Lincoln City have re-signed Conor McGrandles on a two-year deal from Charlton Athletic after the midfielder had a brief second spell on loan with the Imps last season.

The 28-year-old made just five appearances after rejoining the League One club in January before an ankle injury ended his campaign in March.

Those appearances were enough to see the midfielder take his Lincoln appearance tally past 100, with McGrandles having initially featured 96 times for the Imps over two season before joining Charlton in 2022.

McGrandles had year remaining on his Addicks contract, and moves for an undisclosed fee.

"I’m buzzing to be back, it’s my third time so I’m really looking forward to it," McGrandles told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

Charlton Athletic have signed midfielder Luke Berry after his recent release by Luton Town.

Berry, 31, has signed a two-year contract with the League One club and the deal includes the option of an additional 12 months.

Luton opted not to trigger an extension option in Berry's contract, enabling him to move on a free transfer after seven years at Kenilworth Road.

Charlton's former Luton boss Nathan Jones signed Berry for the Hatters from Cambridge United in 2017 and will be reunited with him in south London.

Charlton Athletic have signed defender Josh Edwards from Dunfermline Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year deal at the Valley having played 182 times for the Scottish Championship side since joining them in 2019.

Edwards was named in last season's Scottish Championship Team of the Year and can play across the left side of defence and in midfield.

He is the third new player to join Charlton this summer after midfielder Luke Berry and goalkeeper Will Mannion.

"We’ve beaten off a lot of competition from other clubs to bring him to Charlton," Addicks boss Nathan Jones told the club website.

"He's a player with a lot of potential, who has played a lot of games in Scotland over a number of years now. He has the attributes and the profile we look for and he'll only get better.

“His arrival will help give us real competition on the left-hand side. He provides something different to what we already have and he has a real scope to improve. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Charlton Athletic have signed Millwall defender Alex Mitchell for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Lincoln City, where he played 41 times in all competitions, scoring one goal.

Mitchell, who made just one first team appearance for Millwall, has agreed a three-year deal at Charlton and is the fourth new player to move to the club this summer.

"Alex is someone I’ve known for a while so I’m really pleased to bring him to Charlton," Addicks boss Nathan Jones told the club website, external.

"He has gone out on loan and played games which is important for a young lad.

"He is someone that is an excellent defender and someone that will make us stronger, more competitive and more aggressive."

Mitchell has also had loan spells at National League side Bromley, Scottish side St Johnstone and Leyton Orient during his career.

"He has so much scope to grow. He’s 22 and played a lot of games and is nowhere near his ceiling," added Jones.

"He did fantastically well at Lincoln last season and was a big part of their strong push in the second half of the season. He’s a player I'm very excited to work with."
