Don't think he's been given a chance to be honest.
He's a quality finisher but he needs something to finish. I'm still confused by the best formation to accommodate our wealth of talent. We are miles ahead of last season in terms of strength in depth but I still don't know our starting 11 and that is costing Personally I would love to see him with Bera, feeding off Sess and Brunty - we do not need to sit back all the time. If we could get proper wingers fit, we'd be awesome (in the mid-table pretty-shite sense) Bring it on............
I can go a step higher than Aston Villa

Maybe, when required, just pushing Gardener into Sess's position and including Mulumbu as a defensive midfielder. Dependant on which out of Sess and Gardener was in the best form at the time.
There are 2 problems with the that team Luke. The first is that we will need to have Blanco cloned and the second is that that team would get destroyed defensively with only Gardner as the defensive protection. The 4-1-3-2 formation is good when chasing a game or if the team using it is playing a team that they should beat such as us against Burnley at home or Benfica at home against Gil Vicente but that's about it in my opinion. Benfica are the only club that can really make it work and even then they still change their shape when they're against a rival or better team.
For a club like us, playing either a 4-2-3-1 with 2 defensive/central midfielders or a 4-3-3 which becomes a 4-1-4-1 when out of possession with 1 holder and 2 central midfielders are the best options because we can't afford to leave our defence isolated like the above team unfortunately would. However, if we were 1 or 2 nil down and having to chase the game, which ultimately means leaving the defence a bit vulnerable, it would then be a very good system to use.
