Portsmouth have signed goalkeeper Ryan Schofield on a one-year deal following his release by Huddersfield Town.

The 23-year-old began his career with the Terriers and made 35 appearances for the Yorkshire club.

He had loan spells with six clubs, the most recent at Crawley Town, where he played two games last season.

"He moved through the England age groups and is a great all-round keeper, with his shot-stopping a particular highlight," said boss John Mousinho.

"He's brave, a good size and can also kick well, so we're delighted to bring in someone of his pedigree with experience at a higher level."

Pompey are at home to Bristol Rovers on 5 August, the opening day of the new League One season.

League One club Portsmouth have signed midfielder Alex Robertson on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for the Premier League champions but has featured for the club in the EFL Trophy.

Australia international Robertson spent the first half of the 2021-22 campaign on loan with Ross County in the Scottish Premier League.

"Alex is a dynamic attacking midfielder," boss John Mousinho said.

"He comes here off the back of an excellent season with Manchester City's Under-21s. He's won the title there three years in a row and also recently got his first cap for Australia

"We're really excited that we've been able to bring him to the club."

League One club Portsmouth have signed midfielder Tino Anjorin on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has made five appearances for the Premier League club but has mainly featured in their under-21 side.

"We're excited to see what he's going to bring," Pompey head coach John Mousinho told the club website.

"We've got a player with Premier League capability, who's excellent on the ball and has real athletic qualities."

Mousinho added: "He can carry it, he can find a pass and he can score a goal - now he has to knit all that together on a consistent basis."

Anjorin arrives at Fratton Park following injuries to midfielder Tom Lowery and striker Kusini Yengi.

He has already had two loan spells in his senior career, spending the first half of 2021-22 playing for Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League before joining Huddersfield in the Championship.

His loan with the Terriers was extended into 2022-23 and overall he went on to make 17 appearances, scoring three league goals for the club

Portsmouth have signed former Arsenal and Luton goalkeeper Matt Macey until the end of the season.

It is the second January in succession Macey has moved to Fratton Park, having joined on loan from Luton in 2023 as manager John Mousinho's first signing.

Macey, 29, kept 10 clean sheets in 21 games for Pompey, and stayed with Luton until September when he terminated his contract to find regular football.

The ex-Hibernian keeper will provide competition for number one Will Norris.

Mousinho told the club website: "Matt was my first signing after arriving at the club almost a year ago and I'm delighted to bring him back here.

"He did an excellent job for us last season and it really strengthens our goalkeeping unit because we know that he's an outstanding shot-stopper."

Macey came through the ranks at Arsenal, made two starts in cup games in 2017-18 and was an unused substitute when they won the FA Cup at Wembley in 2020.

Meanwhile another Blues keeper, Josh Oluwayemi, has signed for Finnish club FC Lahti.

The 22-year-old made nine appearances for Pompey, all last season, after arriving from Tottenham in 2022.

After Ryan Schofield's struggles in the first half of the season a new keeper was always a possibility for Portsmouth in January. However, it wasn't expected to be someone of the calibre of Macey.

The 29-year-old impressed on loan last season, and has been without a club since leaving Luton by mutual consent in September.

He'll start off at least as backup to Will Norris who's had a very solid season as Pompey's number one.

This move undoubtedly makes the Pompey squad stronger. The challenge between now and the end of January is to make the first XI stronger as well.

Portsmouth have signed midfielder Myles Peart-Harris on loan from Brentford until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old becomes John Mousinho's second January signing after the return of keeper Matt Macey.

Peart-Harris spent last season on loan at League One Forest Green but made his Premier League debut last month.

Mousinho said: "He has experience at this level and the fact he has appeared in the Premier League this season, shows his pedigree.

"He is a skilful and powerful attacking midfield player who we're delighted to bring to the club."

Peart-Harris has been a regular in Brentford's Premier League squad this season, making three appearances off the bench with two more in the FA Cup.

He had been attracting attention from Championship strugglers Queens Park Rangers.

The former Chelsea youngster joined the Blues aged eight and represented the club in the EFL Trophy but moved across west London on a reported four-year deal in 2021.

With Alex Robertson unlikely to play again this season a new number 10 has been a top priority for Pompey this window.

Pompey still want to add a centre half before deadline day and potentially another attacking player if the right one become available.

Portsmouth have signed Wigan Athletic's Callum Lang for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old forward has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal, with the club having an option to extend the deal for an additional 12 months.

He scored 31 goals in 143 games for Wigan, making his debut as a teenager in 2017, and also had four loan spells.

"Callum is a versatile player who's comfortable in any position across the front line," Pompey boss John Mousinho told the club website.

"He's also a proven scorer at this level and has a promotion under his belt with Wigan, so we're delighted to bring him to the club."

Portsmouth have been desperate this window to add an attacking player who can make an immediate impact in League One.

This signing is a big statement. Even last week there were concerns at Pompey whether the finances of this deal would be possible.

It's shaping up as a good January on paper for Pompey. A defender (likely to be Reading's Tom McIntyre) should follow. Owen Moxon from Carlisle remains a possibility and there could even be a fourth addition this week if everything lines up.

Portsmouth have signed former Ipswich midfielder Lee Evans on a contract to the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Wales international was a free agent after leaving Portman Road at the start of February.

League One leaders Pompey have suffered a series of injuries in midfield and Evans will help fill the void.

"He has plenty of Championship pedigree and experience of winning promotion out of this league," boss John Mousinho told the club website.

Evans came through the ranks at Newport, helping them earn promotion to the Football League, and has won promotion from League One with Wolves, Wigan and Ipswich.

Mousinho said: "We're delighted. He is a hugely experienced footballer and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, but also a physical presence in the middle of the park."

The Blues are without long-term injured midfielders Alex Robertson and Joe Morrell until the end of the season while Tom Lowery is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury and Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin is on his way back after four months out through injury.

Long-serving Portsmouth defender Sean Raggett is one of 10 players who will leave the League One champions this summer.

Raggett, 30, has scored 17 goals in 239 appearances since first joining the club on loan from Norwich City in the summer of 2019.

He made the move permanent a year later and made 38 League One appearances this season.

Fellow defender Joe Rafferty, 31, will also leave the club having played 68 times in the last two seasons.

Goalkeeper Matt Macey is among eight other players who will leave as Lee Evans, Josh Martin, Ryan Schofield, Haji Mnoga, Harry Jewitt-White, Liam Vincent and Josh Dockerill all depart the club.

Portsmouth have made their first signing of the summer in defender Jordan Williams.

The 24-year-old right-back has signed a three-year deal at Fratton Park, after he left Barnsley at the end of last campaign.

Williams made 52 appearances in all competitions last season for the Tykes, captaining the side into the League One play-offs where they were beaten by Bolton Wanderers.

“Jordan has plenty of experience already, despite his relatively young age," said Pompey boss John Mousinho.

“A lot of those games have been in the Championship and he’s captained Barnsley as well, so has those important leadership qualities.

“We’re getting a right-back who’s defensively solid, while also possessing some exciting attacking attributes."

Portsmouth will play in the second tier of English football for the first time in 12 years after winning the League One title last season.

Portsmouth defender Connor Ogilvie has agreed a new two-year deal with the club.

The 28-year-old has made 117 appearances for Pompey since arriving from Gillingham in 2021 and played a key role in his side's promotion to the Championship last season.

The former England youth international and product of Tottenham Hotspur's academy has scored eight goals for Portsmouth, including two last season in wins over Barnsley and Northampton Town.
