Fleetwood Town have signed Preston North End defender Josh Earl on a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old's deal also gives the League One club an option to extend for a further 12 months.
Earl made 31 appearances for the Lilywhites last season, scoring once, but the club agreed to terminate his contract with them by mutual consent.
Fleetwood, who have now made six summer signings, will start the new season with a trip to Port Vale on 30 July.
"Josh is a player that we've been looking at since the day we first arrived at the football club and we've finally managed to get the deal over the line," said head coach Scott Brown.
"When he plays in League One with us, we're wanting him to lead by example and show the qualities that we all know he's got."

Port Vale have signed Welsh striker Ellis Harrison from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.
Harrison, 28, has scored six goals in 20 appearances for the Cod Army after joining from Portsmouth in January.
He began his career under Vale boss Darrell Clarke at Bristol Rovers, winning promotion to the English Football League in 2015.
Garrick is the seventh summer signing to arrive at League One Vale, who have not revealed the length of his deal.
"I know a lot about Ellis because I made him, no disrespect to him, but Ellis would tell you that himself," Clarke said.
"He's a physical presence, he can run, and he has a lot of excellent elements to his game, especially once we have the hunger back into his game and he'll be a very good talent for us.
Vale signings in the pipeline - Clarke
"When I had him at Bristol Rovers, we ended up selling him for a large fee to Ipswich, so I know very well about all his strengths, his character, how he is around the dressing room and that he is a winner."

Leicester City keeper Jakub Stolarczyk has joined Fleetwood Town on loan until the end of the season.
The highly-rated Poland youth international joined the Foxes aged 16 before rising through the ranks.
The 21-year-old was backup to Danny Ward and Daniel Iverson in City's opening Premier League match against Brentford.
The arrival of Alex Smithies on a free transfer has, however, pushed him down the pecking order at the King Power.
Having previously appeared in the first-team squad for Europa League and domestic matches, and played for the under-18s and under-23s, last season Stolarczyk made 13 appearances on loan with Dunfermline, where he played with Town's goalkeeping coach Owain Fôn Williams.
Subject to EFL and FA clearance being granted, Fleetwood manager Scott Brown - who played under Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic - now has Stolarczyk, Jay Lynch and Alex Cairns in contention for the No 1 shirt at the Highbury Stadium.
