Anybody know why? I always thought he was an absolute class act and rated him very, very highly. What went wrong?

I think he's a bad trainer, probably got a bit of an attitude problem.

Surprised what happened with Hull, because in the cup game against us earlier in the season he was by far the best player on the pitch. Bruce was raving about him for the first few games before they fell out.

I saw an interview with Ryan Taylor a year or so back and he said Ben Arfa couldn't be bothered in training but was by the far the best player he'd played with at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Most managers in this country are disciplinarians though and put more weight on the player's attitude than his ability. We saw the same thing with Somen Tchoyi here, he barely got a look in because he was a lazy trainer but he was by far the most effective midfield goalscorer when he stepped on the pitch on match day.
1. If we sell Saido, we need to invest the money in a promising, young goalscorer either from the UK or in a top European league.
2. TP is a pretty sensible guy and would only buy those players who would definitely do a job for us. I know that he did spend money at Stoke on players that were poor.

1. Why look for a promising young goalscorer either from the UK or a top European league when we've already got one under contract till June 2017? Albion's recent record of buying goalscorers hasn't been great has it? £16 million on Anichebe and Ideye.
2. You can bet TP didn't agree the transfer fees paid for the players he bought at Stoke. That would have been the work of his DofF John Rudge and the Stoke chairman, Peter Coates. Not TP's fault if those two can't negotiate.

Having thought about this it’s definitely a tempting offer and I suppose whether it’s a good one is whether you think Berahino is just in form or whether this is his level. With his attitude problems I would probly be tempted to cash in on this one as this is winger situation atm;

Varela is on loan so we won’t have him going forward
Blanco is clearly not considered good enough
Sess is not a winger
Brunt likewise

Lennon probably only has a few more seasons left in him but is still a good player.
Townsend I believe has the potential still to be one of the prems best wingers, yes he’s had injury problems but as a club we seem pretty good at sorting that out, or at least we were.

So that leaves no wide men going forward, I think on balance this may be a good deal, add a few mil to put towards another striker and I’d accept and try and put a bid in for Rodrigo or Pablo Alcacer.

Made up rubbish. Apparently we have to 'run' this past Levy yet...... Doh
That’s undoubtedly true, but it doesn’t stop us from discussing the possibilities and wether we’d accept the deal or not. If we just going to stick to fact we may as well not bother with this web-site and just read the news on the clubs website.
That is an interesting link.

My opinion is that if that deal is available then we should do it. We may lose our top goal scorer but we will gain 2 quick English wingers who will inject the team with plenty of pace which we lack in wide positions. The money that we will save from not having to spend on 2 wingers can be then spent on a good replacement for Berahino.
I'd take those 2 fr Berahino I think, and Secure Varela for a couple of years if I was incharge.

Ideye / Samaras / Anichebe probably in that order up top in there own, supported by Sess / Varela / Townsend / Lennon / would be nice. Plus all those I mentioned would all be a couple of years younger than our current crop!
One thing i know for sure is if indeed Spurs are interested in taking Berahino then it will be a real war of attrition between two of the toughest negotiators in English football and will probably drag out until the end of January, I can't see there been any truth in a straight swap but i reckon there could well be an interest in possibly both players but i don't see it happening as a exchange for Saido
