AFC Blackpool 2 McKenna Thomas AFC Darwen 4 Langford, Ashburner, Creech 2 Att 125

Well managed to get a game in before we all get Tier 4, well worth it was as well, some great gols a sending off, two sin binned and lots of action.
A rainy windswept afternoon, had the new arrangements to get into the ground, point your phone at some crystal maze symbol and have a socially distanced afternoon watching football.
No food or drink availabe to the watching public, the lads brought their own brewery although whether Budweiser can be classed as beer is open to doubt.
Darwen started brightly forced a couple of early corners which led to the unusual but great sight of the home side leaving three men up field. The home side had a bit of joy down the flanks but it was no surprise when the visitors took the lead

A free kick on the right and Langford headed the ball over the advancing keeper . Should have been two a minute later if the referee had done his job, Darwen forward goes round the keeper, appear to be brought down corner.

The home side pressed and did get some joy going forward but never tested the Darwen keeper, the away side always looked the more likely to score and they duly did when the ball was punched skywards by the home keeper, the finish by Ashburner was quality back to the goal he flicked the ball into the net with the outside of his right foot, great skill.
[Image: 9327-BB51-6-B56-414-E-98-F2-27618-EB32-A62.jpg]
On the stroke of half time the home side reduced the arrears slick iner passing by Booth and McKenna led to the latter sliding the ball passed the keeper game on.
[Image: 33-DB8-A92-B570-4-CAC-960-F-C07012-D5862-A.jpg]
The home side started the second half on the front foot and were soon level, a great free kick by Thomas to the left of the penalty area fired into the net at pace.
The aftermath of the goal saw a Darwen player sent off for a second booking, it was about this time the official was starting to lose the plot. Blackpool attacked en masse forcing the visitors back and as is sometimes the case the visitoors broke away and Creech made it 2-3
Got a bit tetchy at this point Blackpool reduced to 10 due to a sin binning for an attempted foul. A bit of farce then ensued, the home side made two substitutions and it took a while to realise only one player had gone off, new fangled rules on leaving the pitch anywhere when substituted.
The referee was getting into the Christmas spirit cards everywhere. The home side by this time had 11 men back on the pitch until the last couple of minutes when they lost another player to another sin bin and late in the game another breakaway led to Creech getting his second and the visitors fourth.
Great stuff should be at Garstang next week have to make the most of freedom before we get mutated

AFC Blackpool 1 Duffield Garstang 3 Winder 2 Murphy Att 150

3. Josh Draycott
4. Martin Grundy

6. Harli Dewhurst
7. Josh Winder
8. Shaun Sailor
9. Andrew Murphy
10. Joe Noblet
11. Jonny Hothersall

12. Cameron Ross
14. Jake Salisbury
15. Danny Squires
16. David Cartmell

This was originally scheduled to be played at Garstang but for reasons unknown the fixture was reveersed and played at AFC, this Tier 3 derby had a capacity crowd of 150 in attendance on a chilly but dry and widyless day.
A bright start by both sides but it was the visitors who potted first, quality goal as well by Winder controlled a lofted pass looked up and casually chipped the keeper from 25 yards
Home side were level mid way through the half after a period of pressure Duffield scoring even though he lost his balance still manage to beat the keeper
[Image: 5-D95-C967-86-E1-4755-B149-7-A45-DD3-FD36-F.jpg]
End to end although the visitors always looked the more likely to score and three minutes before they did another quality goal although the home bench thought there was an offside with a Garstang player being stood in front of the home keeper when the ball was scored by Murphy. The assist went to Hothersall who neatly tricked a home defender with a deft bit of football
Thwe femae liner got grief for not giving the offside, the home side were less than happy when on the stroke of half time the Garstang keeper appeared to elbow a home forward.
Mass protests with the officials by home players and management as the whistle went for half time.
Garstang made it 3-1 shortly after the break after a couple of blocks Winder got his second from closer in this time, that goal sadly however did kill the game apart from an effort by Booth which went narrowly over the top the home side didn't look like reducing the arrears.
Garstang looked more dangerous as the game wore on nearly added a fourth a back heal set up a shot which was curled against the bar from wide left .
A red card for one of the home sides coaching staff for slightly losing the plot over an offside decision, the lass running the line got grief for that as well. In the end a highly competitive game was well won by the visitors.
More than likely at AFC again on Saturday

Wyre Villa v Milnthorpe Corinthians

Grass roots football returns after yet another suspension due to Covid, the West Lancs League organised a regional group competition to give clubs competitive football
First up at Hallgate Park were Milnthorpe Corinthians, early shouts for a penalty by the home side rejected by the official and a shot for the visitors a fairly even game until about half way through the half, they took the lead from a penalty after a visiting player was brought down by the home keeper Wearing just about got the ball home the keeper got a hand to it but couldn't stop it from going in.
A second arrived soon after Croskell-Robinson curled the ball in from the edge of the box the keeper didn't move

[Image: 653-E6-C59-58-F3-4-AB6-83-E7-E8-FFF7-DCD890.jpg]

Soon after half time it was 0-4 another penalty and a clearence from the keeper hit a Corinthians forward and in it went Hoyle and Stone getting the goals
The game drifted for a while with a plethora of substitutions taking place, Villa got one back a cross from the right simple header consolation maybe but from then on in the game had a real competitive edge about it, tackles went in, yellow cards were issued and the gap was reduced by the third penalty of the afternoon, keeper sent wrong way 2-4. Before the kick was taken a home player was sin binned for 10 mintes
With about 20 minutes left it was game on home player won the race to a ball over the top and slipped the ball under the keepers body and it just trickled home 3-4
Well full on game now, a break down the right finish again just about trickled over the line and the home side were astonishingly level.

Both sides went for the winner Corinthian effort over the bar was the closest and 4 all it finished cracking stuff

Although there was a big game on the box teh thought of actually watching a game on a decent summer night although it turned colder later on was too good to miss.
The home side have new management team have brought in experienced players from AFC Fylde, however were no match for a AFC Blackpool side who looked a decent outfit.
Three of the four goals could probably have been prevented, first deflected, second woeful back pass and third keeper and defenders collided, the fourth was a decnt goal.
AFC could have had more goals hit the bar and got space down either flank, the home side improved after the break with a more experienced side but the errors did cost them.
Hopefully another nine months of football to come but these days you never know

WYRE VILLA 1 OG LANCASTER CITY 6 Gregory, C Bailey, Kilfin, Dawson, Trialist, S Bailey

HALLGATE PARK

ATT 70-100

A typical summers day the first half played in a deluge, the second in warm sunshine, this was a fairly competitive game were the home side showed a distinct improvement compared to Tuesday game against a side from higher up the Pyramid.
City's side had some experienced players including a plethora from the family known as Trialist. Wyre started the better and had chances to take the lead, but it was the visitors who struck first following the loss of a home centre back due to injury, took about 30 seconds after the replacement came on for City to be in front.[Image: 457-D7452-FE03-4055-9133-7-F64-B71-AAF66.jpg]
Wyre's number 7 might have seen red for a couple of flayling elbows and there were several meaty tackles, couldn't actually get over City's away kit a lurid Orange.
Second half City 2 up almost immediately, home side replied with a nicely worked goal good movement centre field ball crossed in from the left City defender scoress own goal.[Image: 7596-EE58-D3-E6-49-D5-84-E1-94-F8-A4-BF5-A3-E.jpg]
For a couple of minutes Wyre were back in it before Kilfin scord from close range, from then on in substitutions interupted the flow of the game.
Wyre's keeper who to be said didn't have the best of games on Tuesday performed better although made a horlicks for the fourth. Two late goals gave the scoreline a slightly misleading read.[Image: 8-BD6-AFAC-75-FB-41-BF-8398-954-B6-E3-F8-C59.jpg]

A barmy summer evening next to the River Wyre just to the East of Garstang Town centre, both sides playing their second game of the season Garstang having won at home on Saturday whilst the visitors had been well beaten at home by Atherton LR
Pitch looked in great nick although give it a few weeks no doubt be submerged under the River.
A decent sized crowd saw an eventful match with honours shared

First half

An even affair McDaid tipped a corner onto the bar and saved well from ex Lancaster player Clarke with his legs, took Saints a while to get into the game they played some nice football with Diggle taking a no nonsense approaching to having a shot at goal by just hammering it at the target, his range finder was slightly off however he started to get closer and closer. Garstang were slightly generous in giving the ball away in front of their own area but got away with it. The home side tried to play on the break and were getting some joy down teh flanks and were on top towards half time forcing a series of corners which they had two headers which should have been better directed.

Second half

More open then the first with St Helens looking more likely and against teh run of play they were 2 down, both had a touch fortune about them not that the Zach's Crosbie and Clarke cared. The first a cross should have been cleared however the Saints defended slipped at the wrong time and the second looked like a hand ball in the build up not given and Clarke scored from cose range.
Saints battled back and Diggle finally got one past the keeper.
They didn't really build on the goal and the game went into a bit of a lull substitutions were made and it was time for the away side to try and salvage something from the game, final ball let them down util with basically the last free kick of the game they drew level, home keeper came for the cross didn't get it, bit of a scramble overhead kick sending the ball towards the goal were Hughes forced it home queue scenes, they deserved it.
