I feel sorry for Pelts, too, but I'd rather have Hudson.
Generally, I think it's usually better to have someone older and wiser - or really, what I mean by that is, someone with a mature attitude, which a young man could have and an old man might not have. I thought James Vaughan was a dreadful choice because he's far too impetuous and hot-headed, and whilst he was great at geeing everyone up when they were a bit down, he couldn't do the calming things down when tempers are getting frayed side of it. When the captaincy was given to Smithies, it seemed to make him play better, but I'm not sure he's sufficiently forceful a personality to make it work.
