The thing in common between Rangers and Aston Villa is failure at Board level.
Fortunately Rangers have resolved this and then recruited wisely by appointing Mark Warburton and David Weir.
Everything is now run professionally and we are enjoying and will continue to enjoy the benefits of this.
There have been positive Board changes at Aston Villa, but the repair job has yet to begin. What makes it galling is that the rot that they need to remove was allowed to set in due to the incompetence of the owner and the maladministration of the Club by his previous appointees. AVFC's journey back will depend heavily on the correct decisions, on choice of Manager downwards, being made now.
Fortunately Rangers' journey back is almost done, just this Season to see through by, as former AVFC Manager Vic Crowe said in 1972, 'being professional and ruthless to the end'.
