Personally I hate penalties as a way of deciding a winner but I also recognize that there isn't any other alternative.  On that basis I want to see at least 120 mins play before it is decided by pens.  I do like the idea of playing extra time after the first game if its a draw on 90 mins, but I think there would have to be a set rule or else managers will use the decision making process before the game tactically or as a way of getting one over the other manager.

When I was a playing as a schoolboy a lot of tournaments were decided on corners if the scores were level at full time. Just a thought
