NFL is not big in Canada because it's not played in Canada!! Of course you have the CFL, but that just seems to be a bunch of yanks who couldn't make it in the NFL.
As for hockey, love the game but don't follow it this early in the season. Only start to take an interest in that after the NFL is done in February.
The college football teams do I believe play by NFL rules, not CFL, so they can play in leagues across the border. But, people tend to ignore it as a spectator sport. I agree the nhl season is so long and so many of the teams end up qualifying for the playoffs that I only show passing interest until The SC playoffs. But, it's still very popular among a lot of people throughout the season. We have a QJML (junior team) in Charlottetown and the stadium is near full every game.
